Because I’m a miserable sod trapped in eternal optimism surrounding Spain’s over the top strikers, and I don’t see the point in getting him through the initial phase of being back in 1st tier matching without reaping the rewards of him having a series of minutes under his belt.

Llorente has just had three full matches consecutively for the first time in a long time, and improved with each match. With Son back now too to play close to him and do much of his running, he is far more likely to bring a positive contribution than alternatives: Lucas, who has been of form since before Christmas, Lamela, who has been off form since Autumn, and Nkoudou, who has no previous pedigree to his name.

I'd like to see Foyth get more like playing time. I also think Lamela works better as the starter and Lucas works better as the impact sub off the bench.

Do we need to play three at the back? We never look as good in that shape.

Just play a flat back four.

Also Doucouré might not be available for them. Big plus if that's the case.

We looked much better in the back three against Chelsea in the 2nd half. I don’t really think the shape was the problem against Palace, it was the personnel.

If Rose starts I would play three the back and try and get him as high up as possible, with Eriksen tucked in that side. Those two playing off each other are our best hope of creating something at the minute.

True enough against Chelsea.

I do think Son changes our attacking dynamic though. Him and Eriksen have to take the mantle of producing the end product here.

I still think if Rose is fit, giving him license to get forward is our best bet at the moment.

No 3 at the back
No trippier
No Dier (he’s not fit enough)
Son must start

We only beat them 1 nil last season and they are a better team this year. Could be a tricky one but I hope we win.

The problem being is the fact that a lot of games we’ve done better in the second half, why do we keep setting up wrong?

I don't think Son will be in any state to start this game. He has already come out and said he was physically drained in the Asian cup, and assuming he is back in the UK now he will be suffering with jetlag and will need a rest. I would stick him on the bench and get him on for 30 minutes if we need him, but i'd rather not push him otherwise we'll just have another injury to deal with.
