It isn't a Berbatov v Keane debate, merely that you cannot criticise one for their sanguine style and laud another for it, and while Berbatov is better (sorry Motty, men in white coats are coming) Keane provides a hell of a lot of all round play which may not qualify as a stat to the Opta nerds, Pav's goal as an example most probably and he scores as many if not more than Berbatov.

107 goals in 197 appearances. One of our highest ever scorers. Inconsistent indeed.

The Berbatov did well v Keane didn't at their new clubs is such a simplistic argument it isn't worth bothering with.

DC_Boy you should be a comedian fella, seriously, you're hilarious.

You bang on about the wonders of Jermaine Jenas and the incredible, world-class, Cruyff-esque talent that he is, how Ronaldo ever got world player of the year with Jenas about is totally unjust, etc etc etc

and yet, you have the audacity to question the consistency of Robbie Keane?

Laughable mate, truly laughable.

DC Boy ... As someone who constantly bangs on about how great, Mr consistantly inconsistent, Jenas is, how can you have the audacity to complain about Keane, who did more in that match on Weds than JJ has all season. 4 moments that create or end with goals will beat 45 5 yard passes on or around the half way line any day.

Wake up.

As Ive just said in the Sunderland thread, what is the point of using a forum that is used to exchange opinions and ideas if you are going to ignore people that don't agree with you.

unfair to judge keane on his stint at anfield - his style of play really doesn't suit liverpool at all, and benitez has consistently ruined the strikers he's signed before, with the exception of torres

i for one am glad keano is back, i'd love us to unearth some young gem from a far off league too, but in the situation we're in we can't take such a big gamble - and i'd love keano to end his career in a spurs shirt.

Hi Dougal :) I tried to explain how Berbs gives so much more than Keane, which is why he's far more consostent than Keane.

Keane's 'magic moments' quite often aren't enough (they were on Wed and I praised Keano fully for that)

Berbs 'magic moments' tend to be, cos they're backed up by better hold up play, better aerial abiltiy, better linking play etc

Berb can stick his magic momments up C.Ronaldo's and let it stay there permanently

We have Keane, please fu** off far far away Berbs.

Keane has a great scoring record and he hasn't cost us a penny in transfer fees

Deano, he looks terrified in that picture. What did you do to him?

Seems a bit silly, doesn't it? I don't use the ignore list. I don't even know how. Even if it's someone I vociferosly disagree with, I still read their posts.

It seems he had his picture taken with every member of the team that night.

Deano, is that your better half in the picture?

just for the record I didn't stick 'another spurs fan' on the 'ignore list' - I just don't know how to reply to a post like that - but as Berbs don't play for us anymore, I can't be bothered to argue

I'm confident Berbs is and was a better player than Keane and I remember all the abuse Keane took on here (not from me BTW - I don't do abuse of our players)

re in general on the ignore

it's quite simple don't be abusive to our players, me, our manager and there's no way I'll be sticking you on ignore

why should I put up with reading horrible things about the club I've supported nearly 50 years

They aren't horrible things. They are reasoned arguements brought forth by the tosh you talk about certain players and their phantom abilities.

A bit of bitterness there?

The club is made up of different aspects and the playing staff is of those aspects. If a player does well for Spurs then lionising him is natural. Idolising a player doesn't equate to not supporting Spurs. If anything, it puts a face to the club, making it easier to support the club, rather than detracting from it.

I am not a patient person and can drop people quite easily but to ignore anybody that is abusive to the players, the manager and the club is beyond even me? I couldn't even remember that somebody had said something for long enough to ignore them. If it is interesting, or enfuriating, I will read it and respond.

I'm farely sure you have me on ignore, you don't seem to ever respond to my challenges over jj, but I don't care. I will still type away and if you ignore me, what can I do?

I've supported spurs for 28 years and spurs fans can say what they want about spurs, its their right. Other fans, now thats something very different.

I agree with you that Berbs is a vastly better player than Keane by the way. But then, Berbs is a vastly better player than almost every player in the world, and thats when he isn't really trying!

quite bitter!

but my point was that I dont get carried away with putting people on a pedestal and banging on about how much they love spurs because it aint true in 9 out of 10 cases, thats why they are proffesionals, its about money and trophies, neither of which a pro footballer will see much of at Spurs if spending an entire career there.
