Yes as compensation would be given as he is likely to stay in the UK

Bests do you really believe this is not under control ? Have faith one post and suddenly everyone's getting panicky

What's to say we don't pay our youth prospects well, I am sure they have a really good bonus system even if there wages are low.

Think we might have to look into the lenght of contracts as well, the very best prospects should be tied down for long term. Top teams will see an opening when it's only one year left on contract, sitting on a 5 year one it will look more difficult to poach.
Often youth are on short term contracts, as they are protected by compensation laws, but those compensations are usually low. It gives us a flexibility, and many must be on short term as we want to get rid when players aren't making the grade (most players to be fair). But I see no reason to hesitate when the talent is of the level of Onomah, Edwards, Pritchard, Azzaoui, Carter-Vickers etc. Those will make it if not for injury, at least to a level where we can sell them on, some will occasionally get an injury that will be expensive when he's on a 5 year contract, but I think we'll gain more financially than we'll lose if players are starting to get poached. I've been worried about Pritch's contract for a while, don't like Lazio snooping around, foreign clubs have it easier / cheaper to sign young players out of contract
There is a limit to how many years you can tie them down for below a certain age. It's either 2 or 3 years max if they are 18 and below I think.

Isn't that in itself proof to a young player that going through the youth set up and development plan will count against him compared to someone who get out there early and start playing senior football?
They're rated fairly even by the England set up, maybe Onomah even more
Will Hughes made his Debut at 17 for Derby and he is a highly rated youngster and Bentaleb made his debut at 19, yet is far superior to Hughes 18 months later, so I don't think it's as simple as that.

wow it seemed like oduwa had a stormer in the southend friendly getting a goal and two assists as a prospect he is crimenally underrated imo
I hope Oduwa gets a chance this season. I think he can really add something to the team.

Ruben Lameiras apparently played in a friendly for Coventry today...

Don't know too much about him. Good luck, anyone else joining him?

I had a beer with my mate (tsaroulas uncle) he was telling me all these things about the academy. Unfortunately i got too drunk and can't remember any of it. I am officially the worst itk ever.

Was that not Sonupe, Oduwa was at Luton, started well then struggled to make the team as their season went down the toilet.

How did he get on at st mirren? It was difficult finding any reports.

Wasn't it sanoupe at mirren? Oduwa was at Luton, where he did get some time but was often on the bench. I don't see a huge amount of youth football, but he just seems to have a natural flair and confidence and is the one that has caught my eye from that generation.

should easily get some time in the cups with us not having too many ams and having more concerning issues like buying a striker and a cm and unloading the rest of the deadwood, making his path a little more clearer

Did Trix's ITK re: youth players ever make it into this thread? "There are a few that are seen to be ready to use in the cups etc, but should we get a good loan offer from a good level club(that will play them week in week out) that will take priority as it will be far better for their development." I'd have to say that Oduwa would be in this category. He could definitely get a few Europa and cup games with us, but it would probably be better for his development if we could find a good loan with a manager who actively wants him and will play him, like Pritch with Warburton last season. Winks, Ward, CCV, even Onomah might also fall into that category.

Kevin Stewart, former Spurs Academy defender, has been loaned by Livepool to Swindon for the season.
