Maybe but what does CCV do in those 2 years? And Veljkovic if they're not getting first team experience. WE bring them both in off Championship loans to feature. Surely we would want to be integrating at least one of them this season for us to feel comfortable having both of them ready for 2 years time. I also get what your saying 100% but CCV for example is an exceptional talent should we not try to challenge him as much as possible and try and not stall his development

I think Poch will play youngsters if he feels they're ready and playing better than the others in their position.

    Absolutely this.

Obviously youth players will learn and develop by playing games but more than anything Poch has to create competition to analyse the mentality of these players. Are they going to fight tooth and nail to get a starting spot or on the bench or just moan that there's too many players in front of them.

Let's not forget how far Mason was out of the picture last summer.

It looks like we are clearing out, it also looks like a fair few of the young lads are being heavily looked at, sometimes it's not about the talent you have but more what's in front of you,

Keepers Loris, MV, pos McGee as third choice although loan rumours he was with the first team squad a lot last year and properly the only real first teamed amongst our kids, however he has no exp.

LB Rose, Davis pretty strong oligive next ? Will he be loaned do you think ?
Right back it's way to crowded Fredrick loan? KWP under 21s? Looks likely.
CB with TA, Verts, Fazio, Dier, Wimmer then CCV seems heavily involved pre season again this year do we think under 21s or a loan? Not sure if he needs more of a challenge unfortunate there is much competition otherwise a few EL games would be a good idea.

Milo's not sure where the club see him there is def less comp currently at CM at the mo. Do you think EL and cup and sub appearances it's maybe his time rather than a loan?

Cm looks like Ali, mason, Bents, and dembele will be left plus a new signing, so you would think there is a spot for one or two of Winks, Milo's Onomah

Left side, right side and middle Lamela Eriksen Pritchard Chadli now if Lennon and Townsend go this could open up a spot for Oduwa and possibly Onomah I am sure he could offer something right side if need be although he is really a central player.

Striker is very lonely, Kane, Coulhurst logically we will make signings here if we sell the terrible two but meanwhile Shaq has a very little in his way really is a good time to become the talent he once was. Shaq does have pace which makes him unique I have a feeling he will do better at spurs than on loan if given a chance.

Either way a lot of the young players are going to get game time this pre season, with only RS and Kane up front I can't see Ade ever appearing for the first team again. Right side again Oduwa is our only option with pace if Townsend and Lennon go.

It really does look like it's going to be a brutal clear out, with the stadium on the way Levy could use this window to streamline the squad and bank some cash, or just buy two-three really good players. Either way can't see us bring in more than 3 players so there will be spots unfortunately for Milo's and CCV who are two of our more ready players CB is not going to be easy.

If we want to progress the EL / cyps need to be used for a youth training / intergration a mix of exp and young players we could develope a lot more young players in to the first team faster.

I don't see Shaq as anywhere near good enough to act as cover up front he doesn't have enough to his game imo. I would like to see Oduwa challenged to play there at least as a wide forward where he could be a decent option if you can channel his undoubted ability and make him believe in himself a bit more I hope the loan at Luton would have helped in that direction

I think Ogilvie would benefit from a loan the season before last he was the best player in the youth team. Unfortunately he missed the start of last season and took a while to get going again. I would have thought Coventry would be a good fit. Fredericks for me is not a good enough defender to be a premiership player and I would think he may move on, we have better options.

Winks I would like to see around the first team he had a very good season last year and deserves an opportunity. Onomah who was terrific for the U21's last year really maturing as a player. I think might initially be pushed forward as a more attacking midfielder but to do that he needs to add goals to his game he has the ability and intelligence to do so but needs to add the belief. Veijkovic I see him as a defensive midfielder he has awful lot to offer there. As a centre back I think he lacks a bit of pace but he does things nice and simple and that might be a little unfair

Sonupe is a player I think is fun to watch be he needs hardening up and to find out his level. At the moment he is a long way from the first team but he has some raw materials that if you can hone them might make a interesting player but at the moment its a big if

Maghoma was talking about impressing enough for a loan last season that would be a big achievement for an 18tr old centre half - I don't see Ball or Ward as being good enough long term for the first team in the short of long term and I would tthink Ball will be loaned out.

Its going to be interesting to see how Amos and Azzoui progress this season

Think Ward might surprise a few this season. He has looked very tidy when i've seen him recently and by all reports is ripping it up for rotherham on loan in their pre season.

Azzaoui really suffered at the end of the season with his form he didn't look the same after chelsea match. His small stature is concerning and imo be more of an issue to him than it will for Edwards at this level, he has great potential imo. all of sudden found himself really underrated.

Our team next season for the FAYC looks really good
I think he has surprised many people already like Fredericks he has gone away and applied himself really well

Azzaoui did burn out towards the end of the season but his stature is not a problem he does get involved with the physical aspects of the game, he just had a dip in form at the end of the season unlike Edwards who finished the season strong.

    Guys,

When I saw the FAYC 5th round at WHL the two players that stood out for me were Luke Amos and Georgiou (sp). Their names not mentioned it seems in the last few pages. Those that know the set-up, how would you rate these guys: also, I recall Miller has some fans here so his prospects, too, please? Thanks!

Most of the talk has been of players a year or 2 older than Amos and Georgiou - the main exceptions being CCV, Onomah.and Azzaoui who could all be around the first team by end of next season

Georgiou is a right winger who I like, think he can go a long way, but needs to start to play u21 football, which is a different level to FAYC and u18 football that he's been used to, and after that we'' judge how far he's likely to go

Amos looks a decent CM/DM, and same remarks as Georgiou.

IMO, we are starting to guess who the top players are going to be - so Onomah, CCV and maybe Azzaoui, whereas the consensus is that Georgiou and Amos haven't quite got in that group yet, but are probably in the group one down from that. Not to say they can't improve and fans impressions will put them in that top group - I'm in the camp that says that until a player gets to about 19, its still very possible for players to jump into the top group or indeed drop out, so still 2 years or so for both to do that - Tom Carroll is a prime example going from runt of the litter to almost the top of his group in 6 months aged 18.

Same with Miller, who I think is a very good player, but there are even better players than him in his year group. I'd hope that we can bring them all through - but some will drop out at some stage, but may go on to have good careers at either PL or Championship sides

Of the two mentioned I would say Luke has the better prospects - he had a decent season last year but needs to step up again as he goes in the u21'S this season. Good passer of the ball and was used in a slightly more defensive role which he did well in but I think he can offer more than that. Georgiou is very left footed but does for a wide player score regularly he had to adapt to playing on the opposite wing as Azzoui came in on the left. He again will need to step up as he moves to the u21's.

Miller I think lacks a position he is not really a striker midfielder or wide midfielder. Probably suited to a nbr 10 role but then you question does he affect the game enough? He is a talented boy a bit on the small side and he did ok last year but longer term I am not sure that' going to be enough - I think he would benefit from a loan to just find out that bit more about him

I have quietly been tipping Amos to surprise everyone for years. Been my dark horse for a long time.

Amos has always been one that is hampered by his size as he is a DM who hasn't physically stopped growing yet. He has been one that does spot danger quick and intelligent with his positioning. Also one of the few actual DM we have if not only

I don't think it had anything to do with his size, when he came on for the U21s against a very physical Leicester, he was our best player.

This season, I would loan Veljkovic out, unless he is seen ans a CM option (which I think he should be), let CCV continue to develop in the U21s until Jan and play him off the bench in the EL, and start him in the cup. Then get CCV a league 1 loan in Jan.

Next season, either Fazio or Jan will go (perhaps both if Wimmer develops), Veljkovic comes back off loan and takes there place, whilst CCV goes on a Championship loan.

Don't forget when even when Ledley King (definitely an exceptional talent) turned 20, had had only played 4 games for us only 2 of those were starts. Then by the time he had turned 21, he had made an extra 23 appearances and that was when we were a mid table team.

Amos was finding u18s very easy last season and it is good for him to be in the under 21s this season, most on here are big fans of Amos I also like Owens, so unless we buy a top class DM for the first team I am not that bothered because these two at some point could step in and do a job.Georgiou is talented but i do find he runs into too much trouble tacking on one to many players and loses the ball a lot but without a doubt he is a prospect.

Nothing to add but I have to say how buzzing it is to see the photos of Oduwa, Onomah, Coulthirst and Walker-Peters in the pre-season photos. Add Alli and Veljkovic and its very heartening for the future.
