Well unless you want him to end up like Ndombele who's picked up an injury already and he's much further down the line fitness wise then I guess we're gonna have to show some patience.
From looking at Ndombele's diet over the break, he wasnt living the healthy life ;). And from his past history, hes not the most naturally fit - he used to have weight issues.
I guess I'm just impatient to try to shake things up a bit, and probably over eager to see Lo Celso playing because we've been rather turgid of late.
I want more of that Argentinian fire and flare, similar to what Lamela brings to the pitch.

you wouldn't want him to pick up an injury though would you.

after reading about his attributes in the transfer window I too am looking forwards, but I trust Poch and his medical advisors or whatever they use in the training centre. I reckon we will see him get a run out in the CoC, a bit like when Moura joined he made it v Newport in the FA Cup I think

so your be doing your knee jerking if we lose
Depends on the performance, doesn't it? I'm much more inclined to be like you than I am the doom-mongers, but we didn't look like we had any kind of plan for how to beat Newcastle and it, unfortunately, wasn't a one-off.

Injuries or not, Poche now has at his disposal sufficient tools with which to sweep aside most bottom half teams and difficult questions need to be asked if the current malaise is not banished pronto.

Pochs required fitness levels are different to other teams, hence our teams Km per game are higher and why we score late goals. Lo Celso May have only come off playing a tournament, yet has had a few weeks off since then. In that time, your body starts storing carbohydrates, as it’s not used to them not being burned off whilst playing regularly. Poch likes to protect new signings, and bed them in to prevent them being criticised by the media for not hitting the ground running, and allowing them to get up to the fitness levels of the rest of the squad, and then adapt to the intensity of the premier league.

Chucking him or any new signing from another culture and league, in at the deep end, is only going to knock their confidence if they are not upto speed and they don’t live up to the expected hype.

If he could work out how to train them so they don’t always concede the first goal too then that would be nice.

Shocking quotes in that Sun article by Pochettino what an earth is he on about. Making excuses when we’ve spent circa £160m this summer and tried to get Dybala he sounds absolutely pathetic. Really thought we’d turned the corner on Friday. But still trotting out the same old shit.
You are easily upset if that annoys you so much.

The thing is we haven't come out of the blocks fast, even if we had 3 from 3 last season. last Sunday we put in enough crosses that on another day we get the bounce. the pace is slow and ponderous, but in my eyes when your trying to break through a wall of players like Newcastle set up you need precision and sometimes doing that fast leads to errors. we could of also put more crosses in a lot quicker in hope they weren't as settled.

the thing is Newcastle had lost 2 games prior, the 1 v Arsenal was down to defending, Lacelles leaving that gooner unmarked. they then went to Norwich without 10 men behind the ball, and left themselves open and punished. we have had problems with them most seasons and only scrapped a 1-0 last season.

I don't think the backroom goings on is helping, had Eriksen shown some form v City he might of started. on another day a ref gives us 2 pens and neither would of been overturned with VAR, unfortunately I've seen 2 games with Dean in charge and I never expect anything off him anymore, so if VAR are not going to ever turn a penalty over, I doubt Dean will award 1 unless it's 1000% guaranteed right in front of his eyes without any possible blockage.

I really hope the players are up to speed, and work around the press Arse will put on us, which they never tried v Liverpool. also the drop in temperature might see us pick up the pace, last week playing in 28 degrees and having players out, might of been another reason for the tempo. playing at a higher tempo, brings the risk of more injuries, something Poch wouldn't want with today in mind.

This thread will be fun tonight. In the end of the day, a draw away to Arsenal is really not that bad. Our performance on the other hand, especially in the second half, was poor.

Take a point, could’ve been 3 could’ve been 0, 2 weeks to sort it out and get players back to fitness

I don’t think it was as bad as some people made out. If we had taken another chance and rose didn’t have his usual brain collapse it could have been 3-0 at half time.

However until our form improves then Poch deserves a bit of stick. Winks and Sissoko was fucking dire last weekend and so no idea what he thought might have improved over 7 days. Sanchez at right back was plain ridiculous.

It really wasn’t. If Sissoko didn’t have the composure of a wasp being electrocuted, away to a very dangerous arsenal side, we created a lot. Sissoko takes that shot or the earlier pass we’ll, or Son doesn’t overplay every time, or Kane’s shot goes one inch to the right on the post, and we win this game. We had far more intensity and cohesion than we’ve had so far this season, most of what Arsenal did was the result of a sloppy mistake, including both goals (Vertonghen and Rose respectively).

I was nervous going into without a fit a Dier or Ndombele as left us short in engine room and still waiting for Lo Celso to get up to speed so hopefully he can make a difference.

But Poch doesn’t help himself with daft decisions like Sanchez at right back.

Toby has played there many times why not put him there? (Unless Poch worried his pace has gone, although Corky never needed it).

And obviously Aurier on bench unless he wasn’t fully fit.

Well, I didn’t see anything today that showed any sign of progress. We were so passive. Arsenal had the passion and desire to get back in the game and we just sat back and let them go at us.

Why Poch left on Sanchez the whole game is just strange? Taking Son off when the only way we were going to score again was through him.

It’s a point, and ultimately, one I would have taken before kick off. But 2-0 and blew it with Poch just watching the chaos without doing anything to fix it.

I don't really agree, I thought in the second half we looked very stretched and messy. we lost a lot of our attacking emphasis once Lamela came off and we were lucky not to loose. Yes we certainly caused a lot of our own problems especially in defence, playing Sanchez at RB was a complete failure, but I don't blame the player. Arsenal had 25 attempts to our 13. And arsenal were not good. We gave the ball away far too often and really didn't look creative enough. On a positive note it was good to see us counter attack with pace again. But I just didn't find we had enough intelligence to our build up play when not on the counter. Their defence is absolutely shocking and we should have made a lot more of it. Overall we were better then we have in a while but that doesn't mean we were good. And playing out from the back, I'm not even going to get started on that. Yes there are positives about our performance but I don't think we were good, personally.

Electronicuted wasp, love it.

More than poor. Players out of position, no clue how to affect the game tactically

I think he wants to keep Sanchez in a positive frame of mind. He's far from his best but with Poch backing him he'll get back to form. At the end of the day he's our future at centre back. Poch found a way to keep him in the team with Vertonghen and Alderweireld. Our best pairing is Jan an Toby though so I get why he tried Sanchez full back. If he had dropped Sanchez after recent criticism from the media he would have knocked his confidence.
