Realistically, given our Danny's expert negotiating skills, what would be the best case scenario money wise on the following players ... Surely we can take advantage of rich Russian interest or prem clubs desperate for quality players??

im going for what I think are worst case scenarios here

Gomes - 2-3m
Corluka - 2-3m
Rose 2-3m
Bassong 2-3m
Jenas - 4m
Giovanni - 4m
Pienaar - 7m
Townsend 1m
Huddlestone (maybe) 6m
Bentley 2-3m
Krancjar 7m
Defoe - 8m

Clearly Nelson, Gallas, Saha and possibly King wouldnt get us anything , so I'm concentrating on those that have potential sell on value

Id imagine this little lot would get us 50m ish even at worst case ?

Am I being realistic here?

I would be suprised if we sold more than 3 players next season. Also why sell Townsend?

No, and not with the prices, more in the sense that a club never really sells (or buys) as many players as the fans expect them too in a summer. For all the talk about selling 8 and getting 5 or 6 in, that is Football Manager style talk as opposed to what seems to happen in the real world (not that I agree with that by the way). Your list has 12 people up for sale. Id be VERY surprised if more than 6 of them are actually sold.

As for the prices, I think you've over-estimated how much clubs will pay for players that never play at the selling club. I cant see us getting more than 4 million for either Kranjcar and Pienaar for starters, and players like Bassong just and Bentley just won't be sold for 20-25% of the fee they signed for. Sorry to disagree with everything, as if I was in charge i'd be looking to do much the same thing; its just that precedent would suggest that this amount of business would be unrealistic to expect.

You are contributing massive losses on Defoe, Bassong, Corluka and Bentley. While I could see us taking a loss on Bentley, I can't imagine Levy taking a hit on four players in one window.

Townsend could easily still flourish. I think we should be looking to loan him to a Prem team ala Walker, Naughton and Caulker before even considering selling him on. Wouldn't sell Hudd either, but yeah, they are relatively conservative prices. We do hold a fair amount of players in reserve that could theoretically raise a tasty amount of money.

@Adam. well we got 10.8m for Crouch and 8m for Palacios to Stoke 12 months ago and Wilson in particular was massively in decline. ..myabe you underestimate how difficult it is for clubs like Stoke, QPR and the other promoted clubs to attract decent players, they will always have to pay a premium

@Adam, id also say that I disagree that we wont get more than 4m for Pienaar ...id say even Everton would happily pay 6-7m given the impact hes had

Gomes - out of a contract + injured
Rose - at least 5mil + add on, but i would want him around.
Jenas/Bentley - i'll take whatever i can get!
Pienaar - I wouldn't mind keeping him around, but i think we bought him for some thing like 4M? so i don't think we will make that big a profit
Townsend - i'll send him out on loan again, decent player with potential
Huddlestone - think he still has a role to play in WHL
Defoe - KEEP HIM! ATM he's the best striker we got! i don't want to be left with Saha and Kane for the start of the season and levy freaks out and signs some idiot.

Ok firstly I think the Hudd and Townsend wil definitely not be sold and I'm not sure Pienaar will be either

I'd expect Gomes to go for next to nothing, Corluka 2m, Rose 1.5m, Bassong 2m, Jenas 3m, Bentley free, Niko 5m, Defoe 7m, GDS 3m,

If Spurs do offload half a squad load of first team players, we will get relegated. No team can cope with that amount of dismantling and then replacements looking to find their feet in our culture. Relegation I tells thee.

He should have sold Bentley when offered around 10 million 2 years ago. I'm afraid he's worth nothing now.

Is Corluka really no better than £2m, as I see from a few people? I'd be expecting £6m, if not more, if we did sell him.

Im more saying that that would be his current value to perspective buyers ... are you maybe suggesting that someone would pay 10m+ for him ... i certainly do not believe that anyone would. I know some of us are saying why would we sell him, but my personal opinion is that from a quality perspective we have moved beyond big Tom now and he would struggle to get anywhere near our first team even on form, still maybe a good squad player but not going to take us on

Corluka is still young as is Bassong. I believe they are both mid twenties and served us very well the season we got 4th. It was stupid for Redknapp to marginalise these players as they could have added to the squad and helped us in the future. Now we not only have to get rid of the over paid OAPs redknapp has signed to replace them but also I cannot see both these players wanting to stay at spurs.

I think something that should not be dismissed with this list is the amount of wages Rethings scenario would clear.

I think most of these players are around £30k/wk other than Pienaar at £70k/wk (that's what I've always heard) and Townsend and Rose. Some will make a little more and some will make a little less, so let's just take that £30k/wk as an average against those listed. That's £1.6m for the year. I won't include Hudd, who I think coming off injury wouldn't command anything so is unlikely to leave. That leaves 8 players at £1.6m or £12.8. That's a chunk of change. We add in Pienaar at £3.5m and that's £16m. Massive. That leaves a lot of room to pay higher wages. We could replace 9 players, only Defoe being a consistent contributor, and get 4 players at £4m a year or £77k/wk. £77k/wk doesn't compete with the petro clubs, but it can get us some damn good player. Now I know that won't happen, but the exercise shows how a clearout could be beneficial in more ways than one. Although I do agree with the poster who said we don't do clearouts. But an interesting thought.

So the plan is that we sell every back up we have? How do we then go about buying another 10 squad players considering we've sold half our squad very cheaply? Would only cost more money.
