From what I have seen in my own family, it speeds up the progression towards death, but I suppose it doesn't specifically kill you.

Yeah. Gazza's alcoholism and depression are pretty obvious existing conditions, as are HM the Q's sniffles (to take two individuals on both our lists) so it's not obvious where the line is drawn.

I interpreted it as anyone who has, say Terminal Cancer and months, maybe yrs to live. Conditions such as Dementia and Parkinson's, etc although deteriorate the person at a quicker speed, are not what I would say an immediate death sentence
