It amazes me that people still post stuff about people being 'unveiled' at press conferences. Can anyone remember the last time that any player, for any club, was revealed at a press conference without everyone knowing who it was beforehand?

Plus Spurs don't do press conferences when we sign players...not many clubs do.

All in all, anyone who posts that sort of drivel should be harpooned and anyone who believes them should be used as the harpoon.

I'll get me helmet.
(just in case)

Obviously everyone is a risk.

But Lloris more than others: he's not very good at dealing with crosses, he makes good saves but gives up dangerous rebounds, and I'm not sure if he speaks English or not. For a GK that's huge because he relies on communication.

Over 90% of European school children learn English at some point.

They are only held for "global superstars" like Ji-Sung Park

EC report:
Working knowledge of English is particularly high in Scandinavia (Denmark 90%, Sweden 89%)* and the Netherlands (87%). In Eastern and Southern Europe, working knowledge of English is lower, around 20-29%. On average, 38% of citizens of the European Union (excluding the United Kingdom and Ireland) stated that they have sufficient knowledge of English to have a conversation.

The Danes thank you for the blanket statement.

* this number is more like 50% when you try to speak to attractive female Danes and Swedes :)

Really? I seem to remember reading the exact opposite. There was an article in January about Verts being asked what he thought about potentially teaming up with his countryman Hazard at Spurs. He responded that they had barely ever spoken because he speaks Flemish and Hazard speaks French.
Vertonghen has tweeted in Flemish, French (to Axel Witzel) and English. I'd assume proficiency in all of these languages as a result. (y)

I think Moses would be good signing, he won't aspect to be starting every week. But has the potential to be a real good player, not a world beater but a good squad player

I think its the accuracy of your post more than the language that makes you smart

My point was he was tweeting a (former) colleague in French.

French is also one of the official languages of Belgium, so I expect Verty has at least a smattering.
As far as I'm aware vertonghen doesn't speak french, as Hazard said that he doesn't speak to Verts much as he speaks flemish and Hazard speaks french

Vertonghen doesn't speak French iirc
French
---------
BAE
Kaboul
Gallas
Bassong

Dutch (or Wafflonian - yeah! what of it? I'll do a waffle joke. I'm not proud! )
--------
VDV
Vertonghen

No wonder we lost Hazard. He was just trying to avoid our Belgification process.
Hazard speaks French
Now he is a powerhouse. But again, I've never been overly impressed with him. Lacks finesse.
or lacks any form of aim

Shucks, I'm going to have to watch that pesky stream somehow now.....

Edit - but Akqa said Ade wasn't back in the country until Thursday....

Maybe we'll have a cardboard cutout of Ade there instead?

He starts every week at Wigan, I can't see him leaving a club where he is first choice to go sit on another clubs bench

You seem unfamiliar with the concept of ambition. Bigger club, more chance of winning things, more chance of international recognition, if makes breakthrough (a la Kyle Walker) say hello to awards, recognition and bumper pay rises. But yeah your right better to stay at a relegation threatened team and play each week for less money. Doh!

If Modric is off and Oscar is too expensive why don't we go back to Zagreb and get Kovacic ?

Dinpomp - what is your view on him and how much he would cost ?
