I know we don't put twitter stuff into the RO but I'd consider RabbiCrackers stuff as ITK, just he posted it on twitter and not on FTL.

Rob, hasn't he been a class A WUM for about the last two windows though?

No, he was good for a dozen games between August and November 09. He was then his usual cack self for the rest of 09/10 as well.

It's no longer about waiting for the next biennial purple patch either, as his pace has gone now and there's nothing else to his game.

Well you better get used to waiting for his purple patch because is seems more reliable than us getting a new striker right about now.

So what are we expecting over the next couple of days?

Hutton, Wilson, GDS, PSB, 3MP, the new David Beckham all to depart.
Diarra to be announced, for us or PSG.
ITK saying we are close to Adebayor, Llorente, Rossi, Falcao, Hulk, etc, etc.
And the all important "Luka's Statement".

If what he said after last nights game is anything to go by, there wont be a U-Turn statement imo. He'd of done it by now surely?

Patience people. Yes, we should have got our business done early but we didn't. Levy knows exactly what we need but it isn't always as easy as just picking a target and then paying what a club asks. The whole market is poised to jump into life and we will be right in the mix. I can tell you that we will improve and if we get our very top targets then you will all be bowing at the feet of Levy by the 31st of August. If these do not materialise (and there are no guarantees) then even our back up options are worth waiting for. We only intend on keeping one of either Pav or Defoe with Crouch going for sure. This means 2 new forwards for us. Could be Rossi and Llorente.....or it could mean Forlan and Adebayor.

We plan on signing a centre back too, a centre mid (Diarra or Parker) and an attacking midfielder.

Just stay calm laddies and lasses, we will not be disappointed again.

That's just too fucking sensible a post. Of course we will be disappointed - this is Tottenham.

Chorlukamodric posted this late last night didn't make it's way to the RO though:

Levy refusing to smash our transfer record to sign Diarra..and rightly so imo..

I rate him very highly and think he would be a class addition especially as it looks very likely that Jenas and Palacios will go...

Like i said previously the Diarra deal was not done like some itk's mentioned (not bashing there info at all just saying what i was told)

PSG now also in for Diarra despite already signing Sissoko...really hope we dont miss out on him...

Palacios to Stoke still on but not quite agreed the fee...Also trying to use the Palacios deal to get Crouch in a double deal as there is interest from other clubs for Crouchy...

Hutton off to Villa..

And still trying very hard for a striker..

Expect at least two outgoings by the end of next week

Yes we're in desperate need for a strong goalscoring striker but I really don't think that Llorente is the man. I don't see him being a big success in PL and when we're talking a fee of £25m + I can see it being another Rebrov.
Diarra on the other hand would be a great signing IMHO and really strengthen our midfield but I can see DL dragging his heels and him moving to PSG.

There has to come a time however, when the "uber optimists" have to stop getting semi's over how far we have come (which is not in question) and start concentrating on how far we still need to go in order to consistently challenge for a top four spot and heck why not even the title...given that it's 50 years since we last won it.

Many on these boards may have grown up on the mediocrity of the 1990's and early 2000's but some of us still remember when we used to compete even if it wasnt on a regular basis; and we remember too when we were one of the "top five". I understand fully that things have changed over the years, but what is wrong with demanding better? The last couple of seasons have been great. We can see the gap between ourselves and the teams above us closing. So what if fans want to see some action to close that gap still further?

It's not about being spoilt. It's about a desire to be the best you can be and to be taken seriously by your peers. If some people on these boards want to wallow in "look how far we have come" then that is fine. Most fans though want to see how far we can realistically go. What they dont want is to see the progress of the last few years pissed away so we can have a new transitional period in our history.

great post, absolutely spot on

If we had signed Walker this preseason for say £6m or £8m would we be more excited than we are now at the prospect of havign him in the side?
As down as I am about our lack of activity this window in the striker department, I think its fair to say that now in goal, at the back and in midfield we are pretyy well stocked. Taking out the clowns Hutton, Bentley, Gio, Keane - who are the only players I feel we really and truly must get rid off at all costs, we are left with a very talented squad without further additions.
If we can replace those who want out for footballing reasons, Bassong, Palacios, Kranjcar and replace with Samba, Diarra and an attacking midfielder with Pace, as well as upgrade out strikers, we'll have undoubtably our strongest squad ever in the premierleague.
ITK today on whether Palacios & Crouch are going would be good. Something to back up Noodles info on Bentley would be most welcome too.
No ITK on this one, but a name I think we should seriously be looking at - Matt Jarvis at Wolves.

Did it.....?

Didn't it?

I don't blame Levy not wanting to smash the transfer record for Diarra, although a great player and an improvement on Sgt W, the money being touted seems a little extreme.

Here's hoping for a shiny new striker come August 31st!

To bo honest at the end of last season, we have fialed to get into the CL, and failed to make any progress on a new Stadium, so we are at least 30 Mil down on last years revenue. So to keep hold of our best players is the most important issue this window. We do need another striker but equally it is very important to find out why our strikers last season were not scoring and try to fix that, Harry and his coaches are responsible for this.
I am not suicidal like others on this board, at the tail end of last season I was saying we have lost Luka, Bale and VdV, and at this stage all 3 are still here.

What seems to escape some, though, is that the better you get the harder it is to improve, and finding a striker who is significantly better than what we have, who is happy to sign for us, and whose club is happy to sell him at a realistic price isn't exactly straightforward. Even should we sign a striker this window, you can guarantee that some people will complain; we saw that yesterday as soon as a rumour concerning Huntelaar came up. We look enviously at Hernandez now, wishing we'd signed him instead of another young Mexican, but what would have been the reaction on here if he'd been our striker signing last summer?

And assuming that just because we haven't had any 'ITK' nothing is happening is pretty dumb, to put it politely.

Yes, it was submitted.

Now read into the possible reasons that a thread wasn't created. Come on people.

We get lots of ""ITK"" submitted to the forum, if a thread doesn't appear ...

Fair enough.....have noticed that his stuff hadn't been going in there recently.

Funny though that at the start of the window adiepf's still was

You obviously rate the likes of Keane, Crouch & Defoe a lot more highly than I do. It's a complete fallacy that we need top superstar strikers who demand massive wages to significantly improve on what we have up front. That is the only upside of having a frontline that are so poor.

I cannot believe we could not have identified one single striker who would have improved us and done it early - we could then play this game of chicken trying to get a top striker at the last minute. In that scenario, it's not a complete disaster if we don't get one. In the current one, it is.

Let me clear that up, that's not to suggest that CM doesn't have good links.

And posting information in this thread is definitely worth it.
