I'm wondering (with a distinct colouring of white and blue maybe distorting my view), if perhaps our committee is pitching and discovering, as should be expected, that there lies additional interested parties, that in fact if the target is dithering in hope of a slightly higher step than Spurs, that our esteemed committee shouldn't ought to retort by saying fuck you then if you don't want in on our journey, and move quickly and quietly on.

All very well, but that's presuming that there is anyone else. It would also bring out the "why doesn't Levy back the manager by gettin. player X" crowd. And we don't like them.

There's no need to cut off our noses unnecessarily either.

After a day of who we will buy and who we willn't, I will know go to bed and leave you with my wisdom for the day:
'Today is life,
It is the only day you are sure off, so make the best of it and don't moan.'

Ok thanks for that.

That decision became a lot easier when Palace agreed to pay the asking price for him. If Palace were kicking the tyres for a few weeks in the hope of a discount he might have kept his options open.

If the goats right and we put a near asking price bid in at this proposed deadline, I'd expect Berahino to sign much like Cabaye and the other players mentioned did.
But how much was Cabaye?

I still think you have to be prepared to pay the asking price when it comes to signing players that are not actively looking to leave or their club doesn't want to sell.
Yes I understand the process of putting in a low bid and hopefully negotiating a price in the middle but although this may save some £millions on occasions I bet we have lost out on a lot of good players we could have signed if we were prepared to meet the valuation.

I'm happy to wait as long as N'Jie comes in very soon to help with the next few games and we actually make 100% sure that we will sign another decent midfielder and striker.

On the other side of the coin, if either of the Manchester Clubs really wanted Berahino, he'd already be signed up. City certainly don't fuck around trying to save a million or two.

Kinda see you point, but disagree. Clubs undoubtably have a list of targets that they work down as those targets become unavailable for one reason or another. So it's reasonable to expect players to have a list of clubs that they would like to join, and only commit if that club finds itself top of their list.

It's fair enough for Berahino to wait to see if a top four club willing to pay crazy wages comes in for him. It might (and probably will) lead to him joining us. But if we dish out an ultimatum - join us now or join us never - it would probably mean would we miss out and force us to commit to a lesser option.

We have to be patient and wait for the big movers in the transfer marker to make their plays first.

Clearly poch is getting more of a say, which is the most important thing.

As long as he's being realistic about who we can lure. I think ITK in previous windows (was it @JJetset?) mentioned that AVB was trying to push the board into pursuing targets that were pretty much unattainable.
