We need a striker who will score us goals. It's that simple. That's is 99.9% of the criteria we need in a striker. As I have said before, our ideal striker is Ruud van Nistlepants mkII.

Actually we need a striker who will score goals, but also has the movement and ability to utilise our other attacking players. Defoe and Pav can score goals, its just that neither have the movement or intelligence to time runs and create enough space to make the most of the opportunities they get.

And tbh if we don't get that striker this window, we might aswell just cash in on Modric and Bale now, as they're gonna leave when we don't get a top 4 finish anyway (which I highly doubt we do if we don't get that striker).

The time to gamble is NOW, and I hope Levy also understands this.

Absolute cobblers.

Winning a share of 50 50's

Keeping the ball in tight spots.

Off the ball movement to create space for others.

Linking play.

Holding it up for support

Creativity.

Forcing errors and Long balls from the opposition defence.

When winning it in the air, actually keeping it or hitting the target

So those things are 0.1 % of a striker?

Hence the role model of RVN. Defoe and Pav cannot consistently score goals, because neither are intelligent enough (pav maybe could be) to be that lethal goal poacher. We need a goal poacher above everything else.

No point having all the creative talent in the world and not having someone who will put it to good use.

Oh come off it, can you not see I exaggerated to try and emphasise something. Whats the biggest thing we lack up top? The ability to convert chances. We need a striker who will do this first and foremost.

I like Vucinic, but we certainly need more than 1 striker in order to truly compete.

Why can't Levy take his sack of money back to Spain and bring back Llorente and Banega? :D

Seriously though, we should be aiming for a title chellenge this season- it'll probably be the best chance we're going to get for a while...

No its not that simple. Yes we need goals, but we need a better focal point up top, a more mobile front man if you will.

Somebody who will hold the ball up and use it intelligently, and who is capable of linking well with the likes of VDV...its about getting the best out of the team, thats the most important aspect.

I think this common thought that we created bundles of chances for these guys is misplaced.

They are inept at most of the things I just mentioned, and as such there was only a handful of games where we created lots of chances last season, and we didn't look like whacking a single team.

The year before we scored 5 or more 4 times.

So Neymar not going to RM. They still need a striker. Its either Aguero/Rossi/Adebayor for them?

If so, what happens to Benzema and Higuain?

I still feel there is a surprise "Pav-style" quiet signing on the horizon. One not mentioned before.

Mourinho would be silly to let either of them go, but I'd be over the moon if we pulled it off

Oh I know! Let's bicker about the sort of striker we need on the ITK thread!

Please let's not...

As it stands we seem to be aiming for Vucinic (most likely) Adebayor then Rossi. All of which seem to bring the trait we need. Goals!

Guys I've moved all of the chat about 'what strikers we need' into a separate thread to avoid the risk of any ITK being missed in here. Please continue to discuss it in Spurs Chat.

Cheers.

I heard something from someone I trust re Levy and he says he can't see us doing any business until 2 weeks from the end of the window (re incoming transfers) when in Levy's words the prices are more realistic. Not digging you out Ben and hope you are right

Surely the answer's pretty straightfoward - what we really need is two strikers - an intelligent, creative number 9 (like Vucinic or to a lesser extent Adebayor, may he burn in the spiky fires of hell) who can get 15-20 goals and bring others in to play, as well as play up front with VDV off him in a 4-5-1, and a goalscorer (like Rossi) who can simply find the back of the net.

We won't get two, hell we'll be lucky to get one. But that's what we rally need, and what we should be trying to get.

Until I read his response to Robbie I was worried, his post about Adebayor, Hutton etc was far too easy to read.

2 weeks before the end of the window??!!!!

What's it gonna take before levy learns from mistakes made in windows past?

I despair if this comes to pass.:bang:
