We need both Willian and Eriksen
Exactly this. We need more playmakers in our squad, who ask for the ball and connect the play. Willian is obviously the one AVB prefers out of the two, but Eriksen has a 'Daniel Levy deal' written all over him. Young, huge potential, available for reasonable price due to last year contract... Will be dependent on what happens with GB of course...

Willian would soften the blow of losing Bale.

We could really do with some creativity, if that comes in the form of Willian and Lemala, then I'd be very, very happy, and other than possibly a new CB. plus another striker we'd have a squad good enough to challenge for trophies.

Going for Willian regardless of Bale being sold this summer or not IMO.

We'll have our valuation/terms for Bale and if they're not met he'll be staying. So we can still spend now in the knowledge we can sell him next summer, and we'll have filled some of that void this summer and allowing new recruits to have a season under their belts as well. It makes sense to spread the time frame out, of business around Bale, as much as possible - to avoid over paying and addressing the problem of losing that quality and replacing some of it.

I think our strategy is starting to look very good indeed. And if we do get a late bid for Bale that we accept, perhaps we'll make another later move for somebody...someone like Lamela for example (even though that looks less likely)...but the key is that would be in addition to Willian, for example.

I have seen Willian play about once. He was very good. I have seen Lamela play a grand total of 0 times.
Yet I would prefer Lamela. I dont even know why.

Hoping im not a racist.

No problems mate.

Just go to youtube, and watch a 3 min vid, and you are more educated on Lamela then roughly half of us (y)
(thats what we others do, but shush)

Lamela is more Bale and Willian is more VDV. They would both be nice
Although Lamela is similar in some ways to Bale, he is more creative then Bale. His passing can be sublime and can easily sit in the hole behind the striker or on ether wing. Having Bale and Lamela in the same team would be immense and good left footed players are somewhat of a rarity these days... Especially ones with the amount of potential that Lamela has, he is only 21! I like Willian, he could def bring something to the team but Lamela would be the much better signing in my mind as he will be top 5 in the world if he keeps developing the way he has so far... William will never be top five, in my opinion.

So whats up with these entertaining cryptics that we are fed in the opening posts? Is it new ITK that would otherwise have been bleated by the goat or are they just inspired by previous ITK? If new ITK, shouldnt it go in the RO?

It's sad that we still need both after buying five midfielders who play centrally (and I'm not including Dempsey!) in the past 12 months.

Think we're getting Willian regardless if Bales leaving or not, and then only look at Lamela or an alternative if Madrid offer what we're asking.

Otherwise it will be Willian and Bale come end of the window in my opinion.

Willian is a good player who would add something we're currently missing. Lamela is a future world superstar who would be a revelation for us and the Premier League (and make us a fortune in future transfer fees whatever we paid to get him).

Both would be nice obviously but given then choice and given the problems we're having with Bale, Lamela all day long for me.

Exactly, could you imagine Willian--Eriksen--Bale behind Soldado. Unbelievable.

That would be just lovely! I hope you are right!!!
