That's not the point - fans perception of a transfer is largely irrelevant IF the manager has deemed it a priority signing which he seemingly has for the last how many transfer windows.

The manager has to be backed - if he's not then expect discontent.

Has Poch actually said somewhere that Zaha is a priority? Or is this just based on papers' telling every window that we are after him?

I agree that manager has to be backed. And perhaps that's the case, because Poch just signed a new 5 year contract. And at the time according to Skysports he said:

"[Chairman] Daniel [Levy] and I have spoken at length about our aspirations for this football club. We both share the same philosophies to achieve long-term, sustainable success.
"This is a special club - we always strive to be creative in the way we work both on and off the pitch and will continue to stick to our principles in order to achieve the success this club deserves."

The happy clappers condescendingly dismissing concerns are so irritating. Nobody wants us to spunk all our dough and become bankrupt - nobody is seriously talking about storming the new stadium armed with eggs and placards.

We are watching everybody else strengthen around us whilst we sit on our hands. This transfer window is clearly different to any of the other recent ones, if you can’t understand that - I genuinely don’t know how to help you. Pool and Arsenal (two clubs that finished close to us but below us) have strengthened and addressed their weaknesses. United finished above us and are a centre back short of being proper contenders - guess who will sell them a world class centre back in his prime to help ‘em out whilst being laughed out of the negotiating room for Martial?

We have a lot to be grateful for, but the concerns about the absolute lack of activity from the club are totally fair. The worry is that Poch isn’t being backed and will eventually walk away. If you’re not worried about that, you’re not paying attention.

LOL :D

Can’t judge a tw til it’s over. At the same time we’ve seen it to often I guess. We always seem to be 2/3 players away. Hope we get in a cm and a fw player sure there is a lot going on in the back ground.

Rebrab (I think?) Saying we'd start seeing stuff from today appears to be spot on. Son contract is great news, grealish ebbing closer and zaha wanting us has leaked...what's all the fuss?...I wanted martial too, but if we can get rid of sissoko or some other unwanted players and knock some of the price of a player poch wants, then I see that as great news. If we complete it that is

This is all so foolish. We are melting down because Poch has a desperate desire for Zaha who plays in a position that Poch has shown time and again, doesnt have a role in this squad. Let that sink in a bit, SC.

Great post!

Who are you and what have you done with yankspurs:cautious:

SON new contract.
Amazing! Though a bit before the projected Monday - Wednesday but thats hardly a bad thing

Really appreciate info @Hercules as always. Is anyone else waiting for ITK's to come out and say it has all been an elaborate hoax to keep things quiet from selling clubs and we'll be spending £150 million + net to set us up for a title winning campaign in the new stadium?

Guess its just me then;):banghead:

So many people saying Zaha isn't worth £70m, but if you were a Palace fan is he worth £70m? Of course he is. He is basically the difference between them staying in the Prem and getting relegated. We can't demand top dollar for our players when selling, and then not pay the going rate ourselves.

Yeah but there's a difference between worth to us and worth to Palace. This isn't arbitage. For them he's a known quantity that will perform and provide the stabilising effect of which they're in need. To us? Come on it's 70 fucking million Pounds for fucking Zaha. It would be insanity if we end up paying more than half that. What an asset is worth to the owner is not necessarily what the asset is worth to the potential buyer.

We sold Bale for 80m but we wouldn't buy him for 80m.

Edit: Fuckkkk me he's almost 26 too. I thought he was still some 19 year old.

It's one thing Poch saying "I'd like to sign Zaha" but another thing entirely if Levy says, "Well we can have him, but for £70m, what do you think?" There's every chance Poch says he isn't worth that and to move on to someone else.

Sobering update from Herc. I’ll be keeping the faith for a bit longer. I do wonder if this Zaha news is being fed for the benefit of other deals.

If ever there was a day for the club to announce those re-signs for CE and DA...
Hms just been announced
