He comes across pretty well IMO, particularly as a pundit at the last WC.

He's nowhere near the catergory of Barton for example...far, far from it.

He wanted to join Spurs, even after the abuse...says something about the man IMO.

I'm with you Mr Pink

Different character on the pitch tho. Admittedly he's no barton. Dives a bit more.

Has Roma got worse? They have new ownership and a bright new young coach. Oh and as for us getting better. We were 5th in the league when he said that and we are 5th now.

Yeah but since then he's seen us tear up AC and Inter and seen Modric, Bale emerge as World class and we have VDV. Must make him think..

2010-11 season

The 2010-11 season began well for Vučinić, scoring the injury-time winner against defending league champions Inter.[13] However, as the season progressed he experienced loss of form and his goals output dipped dramatically.

I get what you're saying and I'm certainly no boo boy. Just would prefer to have a striker who is a little less objectionable. I think it comes down to respect. It's not about "getting over it." Just don't particularly respect the guy that's all. Your reasoning is that regardless of how he acts as long as he gets the job done you have got to like him. I disagree. I love my club and want it to be represented by guys I admire. It's nothing to do with the a*senal connection its more about the way he has conducted himself in the past. I'm just probably getting too old for it all.

So, your not a fan of Jonathan Woodgate?

He is not a "wide forward" he is a forward who is left footed and so (like so many before him) is automatically pushed out to the left due to the dearth of Left footed talent around.

He plays up top for Montenegro or free role behind a striker.

He is excellent at bringing the ball down under duress but (unlike Crouch) he can then do something with it (including go on a run)

But they were two very different 5th paces, really, weren't they (come-on,now let's be honest).
One was probably stretching us to the very limit of our ability, and with little chance of actually closing that gap to the Top 4.
The other was in a season when we were adapting to playing a 4-5-1, due to the arival of VDV, that seriously cut the productivity of our strike-force, with an amazing run in the CL which was physically and mentally exhausting to some (one = Bale:grin:) of our best players, when we were in an amazing position to comfotably qualify for the CL again with a 3rd of a season to go, only to founder due to a lack of goals (see start of excuse...er...explanation), and just get pipped at the end thanks to a Citeh side that havea huge amount of cash they didn't have when we finished 5 th above.
I really don't see a comparison between the two. We are a better team, with a higher profile, and far greater potential now.

This. Would love it if we could get Vucinic. Not sure if he's in our range of potential signings, but absolutely would love it (Keegan style) if we could sign him.

Would prefer Vucinic to Rossi, personally.

To be fair I haven't seen much of Montenegro's international matches.

I've only seen him play for Roma. When I've seen him play there he has been coming in from wide left position cutting inside.

Pretty sure he is right footed, everytime I've seen him play he consistently cuts in onto his right foot.

But whatever foot he is (seems to be very strong with either tbh), I'd love him at the Lane.

And he plays wide left because Boriello or Totti are both better at holding the ball in their system and they want him running at defenders. And he plays behind Jovetic for Montenegro. Seems to me that we are a pining for a guy who plays Bale or VDV's role. So what's the fuss? I don't get it.

I know we are desperate for a new strike force, but he seems like a quality player but a bad fit for us.

The quote was from Summer 2009, wasn't it? So we'd just finished 8th (and been in a relegation fight for half that season), on the backs of our Ramos-led 11th place finish the year before. Think our profile is a far stronger now (and his is probably weaker).

You have to remember that Roma have been a bit of nightmare for the last few seasons, lurching from one issue to another, onfield or off-field. Finally they have an owner with a bit of cash and ambition for the future.

I really like Vucinic. There is a real player waiting to come out there, he just needs a bit of belief and a bit of a push. Very much like Berbatov.

He's suffered a little at Roma because of Totti. Not only is Totti the talisman, the hub of their attacking play but also never really blamed for their struggles, but Vucinic has been shunted wide and deep as Totti has been moved up and central as his powers and pace have waned.

Like Berbatov, Vucinic is deceptive. He can be very quick, he can be very strong, and if he made first choice for a side I think you will see the best from him. Will we do that though?

We couldn't treat him like Pav, in and out of the side, however I think he would work and fight a lot harder than the Russian and would earn his place in the team even when not scoring.

If we sign him and Leandro I'd be pretty happy, but I would expect at least two of Defoe, Pav and Keane to go, as I can't see how they would fit in or why we would cause ruction by chopping and changing our forward line every game.
