What worries me is that JJ had agreed that MS was crucial for Poch integrating his style on the team and now he's not coming.

Why on earth would the opinion of an ITK have any bearing on the coaching and structure of the team?

I think we need 5 centrebacks in the squad

I think Vlad is gone and Dawson soon to follow. I know it's being reported that Faz is instead of MM but until MM signs a new contract or the window closes, a deal is possible (same goes for MS). And/or another CB is not out of the question. Levytime is yet to come...

It certainly would of helped and MS is quality. I still have some hope it may happen.

That being said we have brought Poch in for his all round ability - and a huge part of his remit will be working with and improving what he's got.

He's hardly being starved of quality options etc.

I really hope we sign MS because he's a quality player and he's cutely aware of what's required in that role for Poch's system.

But its not make or break for our season, no way.

Relax, I'd view it more like a cracking bonus.

Don't think you understood my point mate, If JJ is right that Poch sees MS as an important part of implementing his system it is a little disappointing if he's not coming that's all, never said JJs opinion has any bearing, it s Pochs opinion.

Agree. All this talk about defenders but we still don't have anyone in the middle of the park who can dictate the play.

BTW - this is a pretty good indication of how things are running behind the scenes. There have been a number of posts worried that we have no back up plan if Musacchio and Schneiderlin fell through - it would appear that we do have contingencies in place - just needed to have time for the original deals to play themselves out. I would say the biggest difference here is that some of the team leaks are no longer at the team, so getting a steady flow of all of our business is harder to come by.

I like the way this window has unfolded.

Have I missed something? what is the back up plan if we don't get Schneiderlin

As for the Mussachio back up plan Fazio is a pretty different player, in many ways it would have made more sense getting Fazio if we had signed Mussachio because then we would have an aerially strong option for those games you know we are going to have teams trying to win corners and free kicks so that they can try and physically bombard us, Fazio as an alternative to Mussachio really doesn't make that much sense to me

I think if we get Fazio wrapped up this weekend then we'll spent the last week of the window going after Morgan S. Maybe we'll spend deadline day going for Remy.

I hope they focus on selling some of our players we absolutely don't need anymore. Then, after that job's done, look for some good deals in the closing days (which could include Schneiderlin).

Laughed at the teletext saying we were after Remy for £11m. Didn't Pool agree an £8m fee with them before it fell through?

Barry - I know you are a glass is half-empty kind of guy, but you should try to have a little more patience here.

I don't know what our plan-B is with Schneiderlin, it could be that we will wait until January, or it could be that we are trying to move some of the existing pieces before bringing in someone else, or it could be that plan-B is to go with the existing players. Just because Levy/Pochettino/Baldini are not out publicly talking about their plans, does not mean they are just winging it. Say what you will about those guys - but they have been very successful in their business, I trust that they have a plan.

As for Fazio v. Musacchio, it seems we were looking to bring in a starting CB to pair with Vertonghen. Musacchio was, and may still be, our first choice, we worked hard to make that happen. It might not happen - I suspect proposed deals fall apart far more often than they are consummated. Fazio looks to be our second choice. They are not exact matches, but both look like they could slot in nicely next to Vertonghen. I doubt either one wants to leave a top club in La Liga to come to Spurs and be a back-up at this stage of their careers - so I don't think we would have targeted both to come in a share time. I could be wrong though.

Bottom line, have faith in the team Barry. You'll be happier in the end.

"Teletext"?

Was your stream of the Limassol game so far behind and slow that it actually sent you back in time?
