Implication is the selling clubs are keen for the player to go to us, whilst the player is holding out for somewhere else.
Thanks for that, nic. In my mind that would rule out either player being Martial as I can't see Maureen trying to convince him to join us. Can one infer that the players must be from overseas, because their clubs would prefer selling to another league rather than a rival in their own?

Here is my informed advice. STOP reading online, twitter fed daily fails, reporters giving their 'hit based nonsense'. All is very, very, very good. Yes, things can change. I am personally pleasantly surprised as I thought all was lost.

As I have stated already, targets we thought had died a painful death has come alive again. A little hint; There are 2 specific forward players (we would take one) their club wants them to commit to us, but they are waiting to see if their choice will stump up the cash. One of the 2 would sign with a clause. We are not prepared to be anybody's stepping stone.

My opinion on Dele changing agents, is nothing to do with a possible transfer 12 months time. He is beyond very happy.

Note: all players contracts at close of window will be negotiated with open to negotiate again as we enter our new stadium. Only players we want to offer those terms will be offered.

Now if you want to keep on reading the spill and nonsense elsewhere, you are truly welcomed. If you know the DD the governors do to verify sources, that alone should give you confidence.

Respectfully, I will not be replying in any form to this post;)

Love you dad

We are set for a huge celebration at the end of this window, or a huge sucker punch. Do any historians in here know which has traditionally been more common at spurs?

I refuse to get my hopes up. Stuff like a player waiting on another club to come in with barely a week left just sounds like the script to a disappointing deadline day where we run out of time.

Totally agree. I've wanted us to sign RS all summer, but not to replace Rose immediately. Plus we need players who can make a difference now as well as future potential.

In fact, I think people are getting carried away in general due to the transfer/ITK giddiness that this thread inevitably brings. With the names and sheer quantity of potential signings in the next two weeks, the idea that it's ok to sell the two best wingbacks in the PL to direct title rivals seems to be too easily accepted. It would be a disastrous move, especially as we seem to be buying more than one CB suggesting a back 3 is going to be our default formation.

I'd love Martial, but if we want to be a big club we need to go out and buy the players necessary to make the difference, either now or when they are available. Not acquiesce to be the other big clubs bitches in the process. If we want to challenge we should be keeping the same team and adding 2 or 3 quality additions, not significantly weakening ourselves in order to make other signings.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment, rose going is inevitable imo, be it this year or next. If we can use that in our favour fair enough, just a shame it's a bit too early for sessegnon to replace him straight off

Baving only discovered SC this summer, and being grateful for the possible insight into the club's dealings, my curiosity is nonetheless piqued by the verification process those ITK have to go through before being validated by the staff.

In my mind, it involves a moonless night, hooded robes and a blood oath, possibly also the ceremonial burning of Arsenal merchandise just for fun...
Goosing a swan is another important part of the verification process

If the talk really is about Balde then we need to move on. Juve might be stringing this out ATM, bit that's because they have the best hand. If it comes to a point where it looks like he could go elsewhere they will just pay the price required. This could leave us stranded on deadline day with nowhere else left to go. As I say if it is Balde then we need to give him a deadline and move on because Juve aren't in two minds about him, they just want him as cheap as possible.

Balde strikes me as the player that would want a clause in the contract.

I am betting martial is the one with the clause, would make sense.
Great work, guys. :LOL::rolleyes:

100% makes sense.

If one of them is holding out for a better offer and/or the other wants a clause (release fee?) then surely shouldn't we be running in the opposite direction and as quickly as possible? It's sounds like having a crush on a girl, said girl knows you like her, then watching her kiss someone in front of you only for the guy to palm her off and then having her turn around and saying she likes you.... unless you're desperate you'd tell her where to go.

Balde and the stepping stone comment makes sense. If Lazio are not wanting to deal with Juve then Balde could see us as a way out for a year and then expect us to sell to Juve next summer. As such his team would want a release clause in his contract not too much higher than any fee we pay to ensure Juve would be willing to deal. This wouldn't give Spurs any real benefit other than a year or two with the player.

It works both ways. We won't always be first choice for players who end up signing for us. Players we end up signing won't always have been our plan A. What matters is their dedication and effort once they have signed and starts playing.

In this instance if the player is Mr questionable attitude Balde then we should be staying well clear.

Yeah I agree Rose's days are probably numbered, but we can't afford to sell him this summer. If we get RS, let him bed in for a year and see where we are then. And things can change, even if it appears at the moment that Rose has burned his bridges.

Anyway, positive news from Hercules, although we've been here many times at the back end of a transfer window.

Really hope we can get some attacking players in as I feel we need more than just Barkley.

Who's to say this wide forward that we are resurrecting a deal for is someone we in the public domain haven't been privy to all along?

Obvious candidate is Balde and I guess to a lesser extent Lemar as wasn't that deal particularly complicated if memory serves me correct?

Thanks for the update, although I've heard similar for the past 2 summer TW & have ended up a little disappointed on both occasions, so I'll wait to see where we are come 11.00pm on 31st. I do hope your optimism is justified though, because we need a pick me up after Sun & more competition within the squad is what is needed.

Balde would be the dream at this stage - unpredictability, pace, power, drive, dynamism - he is exactly what we need; our own Mane.

I appreciate he would prefer Juve. He's spent a lot of time growing up in Italy, so it's the equivalent of you or I spending years developing at somewhere like Everton, and then choosing between Manchester United or Roma*.

*And we are better than Roma...
