Not sure... Lucky we support a club who happily paid the release clause of a Brazilian international and then went on to sign a Belgian talent for a bargain price... All whilst our main competitor and rival haven't signed anyone.

Why does someone have to spoil it with rational thought?!

Just to be clear, Jasper is saying the chairman is leaking spurious leaks about someone meeting their buy out clause ie Liverpool. That's a strong inference from Jasper that they havn't done so....the Chairman just wants all concerned to think they have had the buy out clause met.

He's saying its more posturing. The operative word is spurious.

Or Liverpool, knowing Suarez is off, have put a bid in.

didn't anybody read my follow up post saying it was on the proviso that Chelsea buy downing for 45 million. in other words it was a joke.
apologies if it was taken out of context. also says talksport read these sites for their info.

The problem is we have agreed the buyout but its probably short by say 7 million due to them being the add ons. If like Ryan was saying that some could be after scoring 100 goals, winning the cl. Or the prem then they will only be getting the 18/19m for him. Which they clearly think he is worth more than that. That's my take on it anyway. I personally think it won't happen as I can't see levy paying up.

I'm just not buying the idea that Liverpool having only just realised that Suarez might go have suddenly thought 'Ooh, let's start bidding on Soldado, we almost forgot!'

Horseshit. Is what it is.

Reneging is for snakes, assholes and juveniles. I don't know how any enterprise expects future negotiations to occur once they're outed as renegers.

Only in football.

That is what I am thinking and it is not likely they are going to say he is off as teams will hold out for the higher price knowing that Liverpool are selling. I am also not sure if Liverpool need Soldado if they not selling Suarez, so as you say, if they are bidding then Suarez is off.

I have a bad feeling! Is it because we've missed out twice already? Really really want this one!

This is panic thinking.

It would weaken Liverpool's bargaining position re: Suarez and since Arsenal have come in £15m under what they want, is something they are unlikely to do until they have a specific deal lined up for Suarez similiar to the Carroll/Torres scenario. This is way off, and we're at the table today negotiating. Liverpool are nowhere.

Long time no post!

So after taking in all the ITK and reports today I think you can comfortably say a few things. A deal in terms of value is essentially agreed, we just have to agree how it's going to be paid.
Apologies if this point has been made as I'm only on page 48.

I don't think this is right. The way that I read the ITK is that everything is agreed (amount, instalments etc.) and the hold-up is just that the lawyers have to make sure it's okay before signing. We're past the haggling stage.

It sounds like another dubious attempt on our part again. The Valencia team understood that we would meet their asking price and would therefore meet us to negotiate how the money would be paid. We rock up to the meeting and start trying to haggle the price down again. So frustrating.
Soldado is available at €30million. Very straight forward. If you want to buy him that amount of money will need to be given to Valencia. Pay it or look somewhere else.

ahhh Mr Salvo good evening, busy day with the spurs lot was it? so your not gonna let us pay in that structure no? ;)

I feel sorry for Baldini. He must feel like a right idiot going over to 'negotiate' on Levy's terms. Having to sit there whilst they stare on in disbelief, then fly back with the breakdown reports circulating the sports media and then worse having to explain it all to Levy.

Levy: and?
Baldini: well I read out what you wrote down for me.
Levy: and?
Baldini: well they said something like 'I thought we'd agreed all this?'
Levy: but that's what I wanted to offer so why didn't they accept?
Baldini: well they said €30m
Levy: but I said £22m
Baldini: well yes but, sheesh !!!
Levy: get out
Baldini: that's what they said!!!
Levy: release the hounds

Nothing is agreed. Nothing is signed. Make sure you have a spare pair of pants, cause anything can (and probably will) happen.

How would Jasper know whether Liverpool have put a bid in ?

I have no idea...through somebody connected to the deal on our end who's heard something. No clue.

I'm only going on what he's said, not how he's come about the information.
