We almost never, ever, have a massive squad overhaul... not since Frank's days. I can't see more than 3 players leaving to be honest.

I think the signs are there to suggest we will be looking to do most of our business early this year (ins and outs). I think it will be quiet come August for once, maybe only a few departures etc.

We've seen these signs before though. The departures in particular are unlikely to happen early unless Levy dramatically changes his MO, and I don't see us making too many significant signings until we've shifted a fair chunk of wages from our bill. I'm also concerned about the impact that not being in the CL will have had on any negotiations we conducted prior to Saturday.

Agreed

But not sure we have this much deadwood floating around the team in recent years, theres always been a few we want rid of but then they normally feature in the team, This has to be a good window for buys and shifting wages.

Bentley for example, probably on something like 40k a week and is never fit or plays. Realistically who's going to bid/pay for him? Sparky at QPR perhaps but other than that, absolutely no one.

I can see a few more loan outs again. I can only see Bentley and Jenas going back out on loan seeing as they both got injured and never had chance to impress on loan. I can't see anyone wanting to sign either until they've loaned them first.

The likes of Saha and Nelsen were just stopgap signings so either or both could be sold if we get adequate replacements. Bassong will surely be sold too. One of Cudicini or Gomes will go. Giovani will finally leave this window imo. I can see Corluka leaving and possible Kranjcar.

I think we will definitely shift more players than normal this window. Bearing in mind that several players were already on loan anyway so it's not quiet like we're losing players from last season.

I can't even see more loan outs... we have Europa next season... Naughton, Kane, probably Caulker, all likely to play in that I'd ahve thought.

Bentley is on a lot more than £40k p/w isn't he? I thought that was one of the reasons it was so hard to sell him.

I think alot of what we unkindly (but largely accurately) call 'deadwood' is going to be hard to shift. Bentley, Jenas and Dos Santos have done nothing to enhance their reputation in the last 3 years so I'm not sure who would really want them. Players like Kranjcar, Defoe, Corluka and Bassong will have more suitors, but we'll also expect more money for them. Plus it's a risk getting rid of some of them without having players coming in (particularly with regards to Defoe and Kranjcar).

I think there is scope for clearing 7+ players out of this squad, and I think that we need to do that if we want to spend big on incoming players. Sadly I don't see us getting rid of 7+ players and even if we do I don't expect it to happen early. I think anyone expecting a raft of early signings is going to be disappointed.

King going but gallas styaing is fucking jokes. King untilthe Arsenal game was as good as ever. he got smashed by a youth keeper in training the day before the arse game but we had no choice but to keep playing him. the FA cup Semi final King was by far our best player and significanlty better than Gallas.

His role has to change but i'd be fucking furious if we ditched him baring in mind the facts. he has a knee clean up op and then i expect him to return to being our best CB when required.
