Getting Lamela will be a immense buy. If it really happens, I will be shocked. The guy is one of the brightest prospect in world football and I can't actually believe we may get him. Saying that he is still very young and still learning, I do hope we utilise him in a number 10 role as well as cutting in from the wing but he will not be the complete answer to our creativity problems. He will help a lot and in time he will become our figurehead much like Bale is/was now. But we can't rely on him to be the final piece of the puzzle yet, he will take time to adjust and grow. We will still need another creative play alongside him, there is nothing wrong with directness but we can't expect Lamela, at 21 and with Bale leaving, to be the answer to all our problems. Essentially I will be quite disappointed if we don't bring in another creative player alongside him.... Unless of course a miracle happens and Bale stays.

Worse - and you won't believe I'm not making this up. This is from The Guardian's Said & Done:

Romania: new last week from Gigi Becali, currently running Steaua from prison: 1) Agreeing by phone to sell Vlad Chiriches to Spurs for £7.5m; 2) Facing a prison inquiry over claims he used other inmates' phonecards without permission.

You meet such lovely people doing this transfer stuff, don't you?

I'm going to write him a letter thanking him. What's your address again Bill? Still living in Hampstead?

Not sure why people expect the creative player who comes in will be putting through balls into Soldado.

Soldado scores tap ins from crosses.

The creative player needs to play little one twos that gets the wingers in behind, EARLIER, when the space I behind the back 4 to slip it across .

Soldado is Lineker reincarnate.

zonal marking article on soldado/us/abvporto
not true. Soldado gets a lot of goals from getting behind the back 4. We definitely need someone to pick out through balls for him

We have those players in Paulinho and Dembele what I think we need is the type of creative player that can beat two men creating space and opening up the opposition. Bale did that and scored goals. We've addressed the goal scoring now we got to replace the other part.

sounds great, unlikely but great, today we looked a player or 2 away from being a shoe in for top 4 at the least, paulinho looks a real star in the making
"Real star in the making?"
He's a permanent member of the Brazil team. That's not "in the making" - that's "already"

Lamela, Coentrao, Eriksen, and Chiriches.. Virtually zero net spend after selling Bale. Completely doable.

That'd work just nice for me.

Id love Rooney, that would piss of the Blue Scum and go a long way in making me feel better..

I've said this repeatedly to my mate. I can see this as an outside chance of happening. We could meet the fee, but possibly not the wages. However, I can see the draw of London being a plus. Also, we could make him the focal point of our play sitting in behind Soldado. Making him the centre of attention would appeal I think.

On to our fluidity, needing creativity. I'm actually less concerned. We have a number of new players, and as they get onto the same wavelength, intricate passes will start finding their man. They need to increase their cohesion. On the plus side, defensively, where I'd expect the lack of cohesion to also take effect, we've kept two clean sheets.

Cardiff in for Lennon says the Goat?

Even split of 'he's fast and loyal, I want him to stay'
and 'he's fast and shit and I want him to go' posts coming up.

I'm in the latter camp: he's been loyal but has often shirked in the face of a challenge, hasn't improved his delivery in years, can't shoot and will struggle to fit into our formation if we're 4-3-3.

What kind of price? Surely £15m+

Cardiff? I'd really doubt Azza would be up for that.

Anyway, I hope its bollox. I want to keep Lennon as an option that allows us to mix things up, add a real injection of pace when the situation warrants it.

I know he's stagnated a bit, but I'd be gutted to see Azza go. We need to keep some of the core of this squad together IMO, and he's still so dangerous and exciting to watch on his day.

Would prefer ITK on Sig departing if I'm being honest.

I think lennon is loyal and whilst he gets some stick he quite often is the difference for us. his pace is unbelievable. If we were to get 15-20m for him and we had a good replacement, then ok I would begrudgingly see him go. I would honestly be sad to see him leave
