Didn't see that bit about Ferdinand yesterday. not a surprise that redknapp is trying to get another +30 year old injury prone player.

So glad he's no where near the transfer deals!

Just wish he was nowhere near the club. Would so like Louis van Gaal in. He's a great tactician and Dutch football and mentality suits us - ask BMJ!

The quotes are from the Daily Star. Need I say more?

Of course, can't have positive spin for clubs that our outside the CL. Only Arsenal deserve him now... Media spin to sell papers. Wouldn't be bloody news would it if it said "Vertonghen still signing for Spurs but negotiations are going through the usual motions, day 15".

Hmmm, I know Vertonghen is a defender but I wonder if Harry is considering letting Vertonghen and Sandra lead the line up front!!

Couple of early statements of intent to persuade a couple of our star names to stick around perhaps???

He's a Vertonghen of laughs that one. We need a character like that about.

I must admit to getting excited about this deal now. I'm also very interested in who JJetset is refering too as far as other deals being close or not close. I have a feeling Remy and Adebayor are close but Leandro isn't.

Lol... the leandro no-deal I think is one that will pervade these forums with it's legacy for years. How "close" have we been to signing this guy for years now?! ha ha...

I think if it doesn't happen this summer it simply will not happen ever and I kinda already think like that anyway.

JJ was really being a bit of a p-tease with that last bit eh?!?!? Money says Remy, Ade and yeah maybe Leandro, but we are missing outgoings too in our assumptions... so deals for Kranky, Modric, Corluka, BALE?!

Anyway, staying positive, let's hope Vertonghen signs today!!

That Daily Star interview is funny. I actually believe JJ over that due to little convo's I've had with him in the past and obviously the fact that he gets most things spot on - certainly the most reliable of ITK's. Even though that interview is slightly worrying, I'd be well fucked off to be a gooner reading that 'if the Spurs deal collapses, I might join Arsenal'. Awesomely made up.

Just a thought - could the reason that Vertonghen and Remy insisting that they will still join spurs despite no champs league and the reason that Levy is trying to get deals done early be because they know who the manager will be for the new season? I know it's conjecture, but you have to admit, it does seem odd. We are normally late players in the transfer window and only home-based players over 28 say they want to join Spurs (because of Redknapp).

maybe youve answered your own question.

Even the german players like Phillip Lahm and Bastian Shweinsteiger have bigged up H this year

Goal.com are putting details of an exclusive interview with Vertonghen up on their website this morning. Hopefully some genuine quotes there to put our minds at ease. Not that they need it. Enough ITK there for me swing my ding-a-ling in celebratory fashion.

Maybe, I don't think I have. Its very odd. And these aren't Harry-like signings either. VdV and Sandro weren't.

I know you were just saying in relation to HR... but Lahm and Schweinsteiger.... those would be two AMAZING signings.

Anyway, back to reality.
