I can't believe that Benteke is poch's choice. He in no way fits the need for a pacy creative winger also capable of playing up top. This strikes me as Levi's choice. Much cheaper and therefore better for Levy.

My guess is that Poch wants Martial who would be a true difference maker. Levy obviously won't pay up because it would probably cost around 50-60 million and that would be too much spending for what we have sold. So is Hercules saying that Levy has a choice - pay up for someone like Martial and make Poch happy or be cheap as usual and watch Poch start to get antsy and look at other places.

That's not a question to Herc, but just my thoughts on that ITK. That's how I would read it. Poch getting so tired of Levy's act (which was suggested weeks ago by some ITK) that he would start looking around would be the worst possible development for us. Ugh.

Getting Sanchez and Aurier makes this window anything but disappointing.

Honestly it still does.

Walker's been the best RB in the league 2 seasons straight and even though Aurier is a good replacement we're very lucky if he can come in and deliver as good as Walker have done.

That leaves us with Sanchez as a clear improvment, and that should be the absolute minimum number of a club challenging for the league should be doing. Foyth and Gazzaniga obviously not gonna see much playing time so i don't even count those as first team signings.

Nooooooo! Aurier has to quickly become the best right back in the league to equal the loss of Walker. So if that's a straight swap, it effectively means this summer's transfer business = Sanchez. I think we need more, especially up top.

I think it means if DL doesn't do the right thing and cough up for the pacy striker we need, there will be rumblings... ie rumblings of discontent because Poch wants a fast flexible sriker-Period. Which sounds a bit like Poch getting towards ultimatum level with Levy...

Herc's comment about being "told to put it out there" also sounds like people wanting some pressure on Levy.

If all this works out and Daniel buys us all a lovely pacy forward, we'll be ok. But Herc's info makes it sound like we could be in a whole load of trouble if not. We are sunk without Poch...

Herc has winnered this...

Is it worth opening a Tekkers thread in Transfer Rumours, where we could congregate and discuss his attributes, I wonder?

If all we can get is Benteke or Origi id rather not bother. Promote Edwards give GKN another year and just sack this window off as being a disappointment. Both those two signings are such obvious desperation and complete wastes of money, just put the money back in the pot and try and sign a worthwhile player in January.

We could just buy someone worthwhile now but I've lost any hope of it happening.
A disappointment? Honestly I sometimes wonder why we bother, for fuck sake man get a grip.
I've not been on here today, for obvious reasons, but from what I have read from those in the know all the targets we have been sweating on for the last couple of weeks are coming in and a fast pacey striker is only a matter of money away, it's Levy's decision.

Possible that Poch thinks most of the league is going to park the bus at Wembley. Wouldn't having an aerial threat that can come in for the final 20-30min be prudent? Esp w Trippier flinging it into the box?

Almost over, folks! Home stretch!

Glance up sir I missed a few words off my post. I meant disappointment regarding that attacking player.
If all those close signings come off there's a lot of positives from the window. Personally I'd be very disappointed if we didn't sign a pacey attacker, something that as it stands doesn't look close at all. I'm sure I wouldn't be alone in feeling like that.

This summer has really perplexed me. I know we've a stadium to plan for but our stock/appeal was so high following last season. Surely this was the time to kick on and truly address what this side needed, the last piece of the jigsaw.

It's not about marquee signings on top dollar, we know they're pipe dreams but why on earth are we leaving it to the last minute again to address something so glaringly obvious?

And to compound that we sell Walker whilst Rose is still out, and we're devoid of much of the intensity we saw last season.

I just don't get why we havn't been trying to pursue a proper pacy difference maker.

Liverpool had Mane, but didn't rest on their laurels, they went out and signed Salah. One of them would be a game changer for us.

Levy, this point in the window, is "making enquiries" FFS!?

Does a man as tight as Mother Theresa's moneymaker not realise that naffing off on holiday in late July/early August is not the cheapest option?!? Do the fecking business early and save 30% at Thomas Cook by going on holiday in September!?!

From a confirmed BSODL.

If I were Kane or Alli or indeed Rose I would be looking for my exit sharpish. A horrendous start to the season and we are looking at Benteke or Liverpool's 4th choice centre forward. The club is utterly shambolic and it is not the way that a club that has aspirations to win titles operates. We will be nowhere near City or Utd or Chelsea come May the way things are going. Utterly pathetic.

If Levy has a tough decision to make, regarding shelling out for a flexible forward that Poch wants, you'd hope he's looking at the bigger picture. If he pushes Poch and he walks (hopefully not), then any new manager is going to want a squad overhaul to put their own mark on things. Expensive.
Secondly, as a squad we are close to having the right balance, with a solid backup of talented young players in behind. We are close to being in a position of not having to have an annual overhaul in future summer windows, maybe just one calculated addition each year, that has to be the goal. Realistically if this flexible forward is the last piece of the puzzle, then you'd hope Levy falls on the side of reason and gets the job done, even if this one summer does mean an abnormal spend in comparison.
You buy right, you only need to buy once.
As Hercules said, big decision.

Well it is easier for you to exit sharpish - you have no contract with the club - don't be so doom mongering! Also shut the door behind you!

Time to take control of Man city and buy wimmer for 300million.

I hope DL gets the players poch wants. From all the ITK this summer it's pretty agreeable that players want to play for us because poch has the pulling power. If he doesn't get backed despite all the improvements we've seen over the last 3 years and decides to part company with us, i won't be seeing any potential silverware in my lifetime ever again.

Yeah inquiries will be going in left, right & centre for many a player but it's going from everything is going to work out this window (for once) to hints Poch could be getting frustrated. Just doesn't sit right.

Benteke just sounds like a negotiating tactic to me. At worst he's a back up option, but it's also possible that we're just trying to get the word out that we have other options than our main targets.

It's not worth getting worried about poch and Levy's relationship at this stage. We'll see what happens with that at the end of the window.
