United look good but City were lucky against Bournemouth, Chelsea lost to Burnley and Hugo gifted them the points last week. How can we match the wages Liverpool pay Mane, when our turnover is about 40 per cent less, people need to get real.

Who are these fast, incisive players we should run out and sign? And when we pay them 120,000 a week, do we increase wages all round .

The players have screwed up in the last two games. Too many toys being thrown out of prams by tiny Totts.
i agree that the players (and poch) should be responsible for the awful performances in last two games, but DL should also be blamed for not getting the transfers done before the season starts, this should be separately considered.
considering poch got us 2nd and 3rd in the league, i don't think "get what poch wants" is a harsh expectation to DL, do you?

The implication is that we should spend 60-70m on Martial to keep MoPo sweet, but that would destroy a hard won reputation for maturity in the transfer market... perhaps stretch to 50 with all factors considered, but more than that for a player who scored 3 goals all last year seems irresponsible.... Origi for 30 or even 35 is reasonable... I'd pay 25 for king in that role....but when we talk about almost double our transfer record here can be no concerns that we might be buying a flop...I agree we need a pace option but won't question Levy if he refuses to be extorted at this point

Looks like
Aurier
Sanchez
Sancho
Foyth
Barkley
And that would be a fuck up for you, really ?
we have only got sanchez at this moment, and i won't consider the others as our player until they are officially announced. e.g. even jj thought balde was done but things changed after a night only

I’m not sure I’d be happy with that. Ok we have added some depth but still not a wide and pacey forward which we have been after for a few summers now.

That's unacceptable. We have been asking for that type of player for years...and we still haven't got one...and unlikely will get one this summer...

What sort of player do you guys think sancho is? He might be young but if he's ready and trains well then who's to say poch won't throw him into the team/squad? Literally the perfect description of a pacy, technically gifted winger. Age doesn't matter if you're good enough.

Only Spurs could sign 5 players in not strengthen anywhere we need.
Our best form last season was when playnig three at the back. Sanchez is a major upgrade on that back three. As for Aurier, he's about the same level as Walker imho, but he's younger, and I, for one, am thrilled to see Poch work on him. And playing three at the back, particularly when Rose is back, makes us much less dependant on a tricky forward. It would have to be an absolute world class player to push Alli or Eriksen out of the side anyway.

We've actually had two in recent years (and still have one) Pochettino simply doesn't rate the ones we've had.

I think it sounds very strange that a bank would specify demands about net transfer spends. Demands about income, expenditure and profit in general, sure, but for transfers specifically sounds strange. Especially given the large annual profit of late.

This summer has really perplexed me. I know we've a stadium to plan for but our stock/appeal was so high following last season. Surely this was the time to kick on and truly address what this side needed, the last piece of the jigsaw.

It's not about marquee signings on top dollar, we know they're pipe dreams but why on earth are we leaving it to the last minute again to address something so glaringly obvious?

And to compound that we sell Walker whilst Rose is still out, and we're devoid of much of the intensity we saw last season.

I just don't get why we havn't been trying to pursue a proper pacy difference maker.

Liverpool had Mane, but didn't rest on their laurels, they went out and signed Salah. One of them would be a game changer for us.

Another top post Mr Pink

100% spot on. Exactly what's been nagging me about that info as well. Sounds like a load of old pony put out by Levy

i am quite confused about this too but i guess banks treat football clubs differently as the business profile of a football club is different to a manufacturing company or a retailing company. they may consider the transfer spending as a significant figure when they judge a football club's profitability and liquidity, most importantly, the ability to repay the loan and interest, since transfer of football players involve millions of pounds which is rarely seen in other industries

I'm having trouble seeing Pochettino calm as many claim.
There's only 4 days to go. That's not a lot of time.

Just sign Barkley FFS!! It's clear he's the one Pochettino wants the most. I don't care if he's injured. Just do it. He's earned it.

I guess we need to consider our squad size before we sign him though. Do we have a spare slot for a player that might not be used for months, or would we need to free up a space by selling someone? The last thing we want to do is sign an injured player and end up with fewer options for Poch to pick from.

If we've got a spare slot for him then we should definitely sign him asap.

In a way yes! Il be honest I haven't see anything of either Foyth or Sancho but I would imagine neither are ready yet to push first team players so they are exciting signings for the future.. Barkley is injured out until November/December time. Aurier and Sanchez are good quality signings. However we all know that Aurier is a risky signing given his past behaviour. Said in the match thread yesterday for a top 6 team the quality we have on the bench is poor we need players who can push our first eleven players and impact games now! Above all in my opinion we need a pacy forward option and it's looking increasingly unlikely we are going to make that kind of signing.
