How can any normally run company not be obsessed with net spend, it means everything ?

exactly this, totally bizarre people dont get this .... if you dont invest in your business to improve your product it eventually dies, you cant maintain your core assets by adding new whistle and bells indefinitely which is what slight player upgrades are.

oh my baby jebus, accountancy talk is boring

yep but thats what 'fans' think they should be these days or at least how they should view their football club ... if we sell Y we can get B, we will never afford C the TV rev money was spent supplementing D .... ridiculous really

You are right. That is exactly why we have just upgraded and invested loads in the academy and training facilities(not to mention the outlay for the new stadium). Totally bizarre people don't get this. ;)

Which is fair enough but I think of those mentioning net spend very few are doing so from that rationale. Most bring it up purely as a way to attack Enic, and as I say it has no bearing whatsoever on the quality of the playing staff. I have said it before and I will say it again, purchases are far more about the wage bill than the cost of the transfer itself.

Especially when you consider someone like Berahino, who we could possibly bring in on £50-60k. Compare that to Lennon and Ade who he will effectively be replacing. That large wages saving can then become transfer installments.

Same deal with McCarthy/Kramer who won't be asking for crazy wages and will be replacing 3/4 of Capoue, Stambouli, Holtby and Paulinho (1 will cover Bentaleb's new deal).

From there you look forward and you have a squad full of constantly appreciating assets on equitable wages and little overpaid deadwood (Fazio and Dembele possibly at a push), and it seems like the ideal time to pay out secure the likes of SB and JM/Kramer, who themselves will also fit into the former catergory.

Polite reminder as the last post seems to have gone under the radar,

ITK thread = ITK discussion

Rest of site = everything else
(seriously, its a great site, explore it, post accountancy stuff in spurs chat, that way i don't have to be bored by it)

Bolasie, saw quite a bit of him last season ( Friend is a CP season ticket holder)
He is not really for us, suits CP but not an upgrade for us...

Apologies for the net spend stuff, thinking out loud (and happy with my conclusions!) I'm off now and hoping for another new ITK snippet when I check in this evening.

It's the other way around, Gibbo. Any business that spends more than they earn will cease trading when the creditors come calling, you're almost as bad a Miliband, Balls and Brown

Everyone is calling Fazio deadwood, but remember he won 2 europa leagues with Sevilla, he isnt a bad player, hes had 1 season to adjust now. Some of our best performances were mid season with him and jan vertonghen.
