That is two positive pieces of ITK to start the week. Days with not a lot, then two upbeat pieces. Happy days.
Berahino and one of Kramer or McCarthy would be very good business. Glad, Lennon and Ade out, plus Frederiks was suppose to be going to QPR too didn't we hear.
Soldado out also maybe, with a late incoming extra attacker??? But I'd be happy enough with Berahino and a CM for now.
Very proactive window, good to see we've set time limits on moves so as not to be left hanging on. All sounds very good regards Pochettino getting exactly what he wants.

So after today's ITK are we potentially looking at signing Kramer and Werner?

I don't watch enough German footy so I don't know much about them but from reading on here recently I thought they both played centre mid. Is that not the case?

If what is planned comes off we could end up with:

Kramer
Berahino

and then maybe Werner.

Together with Toby, Wimmer. Trippier, Alli

While shifting Capoue, Paulinho, Holtby, Stambouli, Kaboul, Friedel, Khumalo, Ceballos off the wage bill, as well as probably Lennon, Ade and Chiriches.

Starts looking like a pretty astute window.

Though that could be jumping the gun very slightly given the hypotheticals.

Was just going to post something akin to this.

Werner I'm sure is contingent on Bobby going back to Spain and Kramer continues to be a dream which will probably remain unrealised, but if it did happen it would mark a huge change in our setup.

It would be a frankly astonishing window. A complete revolution of pretty much the whole squad, with a huge swathe of deadwood finally removed and replaced by much younger players with far better attitudes and much more potential.

I'm not a massive fan of Berahino but I can see his potential, and a striker selection of him, Kane and Werner would be enviable, though we'd need to keep them all happy.

Kramer coming into our DM position would be a massively important piece of the puzzle, given just how much of our defensive problem last year was due to the lack of a decent DM. McCarthy would be a truly second-rate option in comparison, whilst remaining a reasonably decent player in his own right.

Getting rid of the likes of the players you've mentioned above and hopefully one or two others represents a real clearing of the decks and a huge weight off the wage bill. I only hope we do replace them with a combination of our own youth and the players we really want, rather than a selection of Fazio's and Stambouli's again.

If it happened, and I very much doubt it all will, it'd be the sort of squad going forward which in future would only need a single top player per year adding to it to grow hugely - a bit like Wenger has done recently with the additions of Ozil and Sanchez. Whilst we might not be able to add players like that, it's still potentially a hugely impressive set of young players for now and the future.

Tried to explain this to my ex - that she just wasn't mentally ready to accept I was 10 inches...so her mind was scaling it down to a much less mind blowing 5.

We need an empathetic smilie.

Edit- Not for me but those who can empathise obviously :cautious:

We have an appointment booked on jezza kyle to find out who dad is... I have a 5% chance it's mine

Well done, I hope you have timed it so that the paternity leave is when there is a good away Europe fixture.

Do we get a say in the naming rights depending on who we sign?

Christoph Kramer is a CM/DM from Leverkusen, who played in the WC final for Germany, but was injured with a heavy concussion in the first half. Timo Werner is a young WF/CF, who plays for Stuttgart, who barely scraped survival in the Bundesliga on the last day.

Have I missed the ITK on Werner (genuine question)?

I still can't see us going for him and Berahino, but it would be very exciting if we did.

As for Kramer v McCarthy, I haven't seen huge amounts of Kramer, but I really rate McCarthy so if the club think Kramer is the better option then he must be good.

I still think we'll struggle to get anyone in and ready before the United game, but I remain confident we'll have our problem areas sorted by the close of the window.

Would really love us to get Kramer.

Berahino and Kramer would make this an even better window.

It just seems to be the way we conduct our business, we spend what we earn usually so surely it's logical to assume the same again?

I'm not suggesting it's a particularly bad thing.
But this year we earnt more thanks to TV money so as all of the other teams in the prem seem to be doing, we can spend more than usual. Add that to our money from outgoings, it's still a zero net spend but larger sums.

The new TV deal starts at the beginning of next season. The money from TV for this season is the same as the previous four season as part of a five year deal.

I feel Werner and Berahino are in the same mould for that LWF/CF role, so more likely one or the other. I'd be surprised if it's both.
As for Kramer, I honestly haven't seen enough positive media or ITK to think a deal is doable. Plenty of ITK to say he's on the radar, but not so much in terms of if its viable. I suppose these discussions must take place in the background enough that we'd have long since moved on if there was no chance.

I know ITK have to an extent dismissed Austin, but I'd rather see a more out and out striker as the other option alongside Kane & Berahino/Werner, and I can't help but feel if he's still at QPR as the window draws to a close, and if Soldado were to draw a late transfer, Austin would be a very decent (available) replacement. Not flash, but reliable.

No disputing though, regardless of the German moves being a success or not, I'd still see McCarthy, Berahino and Austin, alongside the players we've already bought, adding to the squad cull, as a significant step forward for us.
Very pleased with the faith Pochettino has in our youth setup also.

Just think of it this way. Every year for the last 5 years and possibly till the stadium is completed, we have had a transfer budget of £0.
