Yes I know its frustrating that we havent signned a new uber mega striker just yet but ffs people. Can we all stop pretending that it is a simple task to convince one to join us.

Well said.

Remember guys the window doesnt close until Monday night...if we dont have a new striker at that time, then surely that will be the time to start moaning...until then lighten up eh?

Maybe they have shit infront of their eyes and they can't see how truly cack all our strikers apart from Defoe are.

Leave now and never come back...!!!!

Pffff, can't have that kinda talk on here, sheesh it's like a morgue here today!! COme on lads, keeeeeep the random positivity coming!

Benzema AND Torres anyone?!!

It's unsurprising.

5th of May 2010: Spurs defeat Man City at Eastlands to secure their place in the Champions League 2010/11
  • We go nuts
  • We can't wait for the window to open to be able to attract the mad names we've been linked to over the years, the optimism is huge
Nothing happened, so we said "maybe we're waiting for the CL draw?". We all accepted this as fact. We agreed we we're waiting for the Champions League draw to see who we get, so that we don't end up with a £25m striker playing Europa League football.

6th of August 2010: Spurs draw Young Boys in the CL 4th Qualifying Round draw. We go ballistic. Joy reeks out from every pore of our skin. Not only should we get through to the Holy Grail that is CL Group Stages, but we should now be able to sign a striker confident in our ability to sign the superstar striker we we're craving since May.

Nothing happens yet again. Yet again however we pick ourselves up, and say how we must be waiting for the tie to start. We must surely have someone lined up, but are waiting for the 1st Leg to get a clue as to whether an upset is on the cards. Of course it was, until Seb Bassong and Roman Pavlyuchenko brought a lorryload of relief upon our hearts.

"Now we're surely going to sign that striker, we're gonna smash them at the Lane" :bang:

We eventually qualify for the Group Stage on the 25th of August, only to see our Club not willing to fork out. We also have our need for a striker intensified after the goalless 0-0 draw at WHL against Man City, in which we saw our side have the lionshare of possession and chances, only to be denied by the impenetrable on the day Joe Hart.

6 o'clock Transfer Deadline day, and just before the break, Jim White announces how Spurs have made a late, late signing. "Finally!", we universally proclaimed. "A fucking striker!!!"

Rafael van der Vaart signed. Whilst we all we're happy with this, we did all feel let down that we had not addressed the most obvious flaw in our side.

And now January. ITK's raving about interest in various strikers. Spurs go out and sign another midfielder - Steven Pienaar. The Guardian have a world exclusive story - A club may bid for a player, and he may want to join them, but this is all in 6 months.

And so we wonder why we are on a downer on what is the 28th day of January.

It's all taken it's toll, and I'm sure this post, will only add to all that

Problem is on paper we do have a great forward line, they just are all so inconsistent. Remember the streak Pav went on last year? That was incredible. Defoe is pretty streaky too, just gotta hope at some point they get their scoring boots on.

Gary Mabbutt thinks we have one of the best forward lines in Europe .. maybe Harry does too and is happy with what we've got?

If all else fails, I'm available on a free. I'm 35, a bit out of shape, and haven't played since 2002, but I'd be better than Rasiak at least. And I'd only want a £30,000 signing on fee and £2500 a week, rising to £3000 depending on England caps.

I actually think Levy got VERY lucky in summer window beign offered VdV last minute and it has clouded over the fact what a disaster it was not buying a striker there and then. If it wasn't for VdV I would hazard a guess we wouldnt be in the position we are in now. We NEED a striker. (Unless Inter suddenly ring up and offer Sneider and our midfield scores another 20 goals this season of course)

Edit: Reading that back, I could be being a little unfair as it seems Levy knows this and is offering and doing his best to bring one in. Could just be down to pure bad luck we don't have one yet

Its about that time, like clockwork every window! - after knocking the ITK's and their info, people start having a go at DL - being too cheap, extremely lucky, etc.. Its so full of assumptions like anyone here knows how deals and workings actually go on behind closed doors including myself. Everyone should probably relax and let the last 3 days play out, he hasn't led us wrong yet, that I can tell!

Indeed. We're playing the longer game. They won't be able to resist us in the Europa League.

You'll be happy with one or two hot meals a week after Levy's finished negotiating with you...!:)
