With JJs suggestion that we are looking overseas, and Poch himself stating he wants players with PL experience, is it possible we might look once again at Gerard Deulofeu? who fits both categories and who I seem to remember we were rumoured to be interested in a transfer for before his loan(s) to Everton and Sevilla?

am really hoping the progression of ITK on Ings to pool is like last seasons lolpool charge for the title...

I find it strange that we would bid for a player if we knew we had zero chance of persuading him to come here, or at least very little chance, as nobody likes to be rejected for another Club, who are on a similar level (currently at least) and it doesn't exactly enhance your image to others either.

We either feel there's a decent chance of persuading him or there's another reason behind the bid (what JJ's possibly alluding to in his latest snippet)

Could the other reason include a guarantee on Kieran Trippier, we scratch Burnley's back by getting them a better price for Ings at a tribunal from Liverpool by means of our bid and Burnley scratch our back by giving us Trippier on the cheap ahead of other rivals, just a theory?

I dont want to go down the route of buying names to see if that creates a good team. Been there done that, it doesnt work.

I want players that Poch and co have identified to improve the TEAM and ensure that we have players pulling in the right direction, understanding the system and willing to make the efforts to contribute all over.

If that man is Ings then we should try every trick in the book to get him

Couldn't agree more. Mate of mine went to Deed Poll and paid £15 to change his name to Carl Lyle. It didn't create a good team at all...

This is what a successful transfer window is all about. Buying for the future and filling in gaps that they feel our academy cannot for next season's first team squad.

This is how the best in the business buy, it just happens that those who fit Mourinho and Guardiola's systems are often big names :D But even then, you don't see them keeping Schurrle or Kroos around just for the sake of it.

Disappointed with jj latest ITK would have been happy with either Austin or ings instead of going down the OS route again

It all depends on the OS players. Agreed experience is key but we need quality and not alot available in prem this year. Over the odds and levy likes his good deals. However usually we dont have such a good scouting operation, here is to hoping it's better then usual!!

I agree there aredefidently good players at better value aboard but I don't trust our lot to find them . It's a lot safer to buy a proven player in the premiership

VdV didn't have PL experience when he came; so it is rather the individual rather than broadbrushing OS players.

Yeah, but it's highly unlikely we'll be bringing in players from Real Madrid, or caliber close to that, when considering players from OS.

Swansea bought Bony for £13 million, Villa bought Benteke for £8 etc. We aren't rich enough to be the club that buys these players once they are established in the prem, we need to take the gamble.

Yeah, but those gambles don't always have to come from abroad. Am pleased to see us buying players such as Alli, potentially Ings and Trippier, and rumored to be following players such as Roberts, Gray, and Grealish.

In regards to JJ's info, interesting we're targeting overseas, as didn't poch make a comment about going pl experience with signings?

I'm late to the ITK thread, so apologies is someone has already responded with this, but Poch did indeed say he wanted players with PL experience, so I give you

Suarez
Tevez
Pique
Cabaye
Torres
Vermaelen
Pogba
Bale
Ronaldo
Modric
Alonso
Pizarro
Reina
Arbeloa
Berbatov
Robben
Stekelenburg
Prince-Boateng
Jerome Boateng
Evra
Carvalho
Luiz
Hernandez (the United striker)
Mascherano
Lampard
DeBruyne

All of whom are overseas players (and I'm sure I've missed plenty too) who have Premier League experience. Obviously I'm not saying we are after any of those players, I'm just saying that Jjetset's info doesn't necessarily conflict with the statement Pochettino made at the end of the season (y)

Missed the overseas comment from jj but is it likely that we are looking for pl experience overseas? Cabaye obviously come to mind...

Was what I was about to say but then coopsie did this and put my comment to shame...

I'd happily take four or five of those...

By Fuck you could make some team out of that lot. I'd sell a kidney to have modders back in our midfield.
