PFFT gloves? In my day it was bear hands a bit of dirt and some spit to make them sticky

I went hi tech in about 1974. I got a present of a pair of Peter Bonetti Summer gloves.

I thought I was a demigod, I was unbeatable!!

I once had a pair of puma webbed fingers gloves... great for shot stopping but impossible to give finger signals lol

I hope the latest ITK involving Townsend is true and that its for a sale, not a loan.

It'll likely mean a new player coming in to fill the void left by his absence and I can't see this new player being worse. Townsend and Lennon sold could land us a nice player.
It doesn't strike me as a coincidence that both Townsend & Lennon, fast players who are best at attacking space [and counter attacking] have both been failures under Poch's system of condensing space and slow build up play.

Even Bale would have struggled under the current system.

I hope it's only a loan to Villa...
Loan! We are not a charity. For a player of his experience they should stump up the cash or butt out. Personally I think Townsend has had numerous chances and not made the most of them. Should probably go.

Not saying it's wrong but Townsend doesn't like Tim so I'd be surprised. For info, neither does Troy (Townsend dad) and has had a dig at Tim on many occassions on social media

I don't interpret that statement as necessarily meaning he didn't put in the effort, but rather that he just didn't play well. He could be working his nuts off, and this is something Friedel mentioned commentating on a US game back in March, but that he's just not shown he's ready yet (which is a stance also reflected in ITK in the last few weeks).
Yeah, I would imagine a lot of training is done in tight spaces, rather than full-field game situations. Yedlin's greatest asset is his acceleration and pace - over the whole field. He can't uses his strengths in small training sessions - he needs space to show what he can do.

Having said that, he still needs to work on his first touch, and decision-making. He has a good opportunity this summer to show what he has learned at the Gold Cup. Unfortunately that means he wont be around here for preseason.

Townsend - potentially a star at a mid table team when he's the biggest threat. Never an intelligent enough player to play in a system as a team player. Poch's philosophy is about the team not individuals. If Andros doesn't leave for 10 mill now it'll be half that in a year or two. Nice guy just not a top player, never will be.

Perfectly put.

Townsend just doesn't work hard enough off the ball, and he plays for himself. He's just not a team player and his end product is actually pretty abysmal if you look at how many minutes he's had in a Spurs shirt now.

Nice fella of course, but it makes eminent sense to sell him now whilst we can still obtain a reasonable fee for him.

Well if you look at everyones favourite thing (stats), then I think he is within 5 most productive players for us this season.

He has about two goals in the League in God knows how many appearances. One was a fluke to. And he's hardly prolific in the assist department either.

Considering the front four has pretty much been made up of 5 players for the majority of the season it's not that unexpected.

Time for him to go.

5th s about right if you consider kane, Chadli, Lamela and Eriksen are the 4 in front of him, it's between him and dembele for 5th, neither produce enough

I don't think that's quite true. It's quite apparent he cares immensely for the club, I just think he lacks the technical ability to link up with players sufficiently in a possession-based system. That doesn't make him a selfish player, but rather a limited player.

Mr P is right. He plays for his own glory, which is just about acceptable if you're great, he isn't.

It's not a technical issue, it's a mental one.

I don't agree with that at all. He hasn't tried been taking his rogue shots, in fact he almost never shoots anymore. If he was a pure glory-hunter, he'd still be firing those shots and would have a strut in his step, which is the exact opposite of reality. It's been said he's one of the hardest workers in training, so along with the axing of the shooting, I think it's evidence he's just trying to prove himself. I think he just simply wants to succeed at Spurs, which can easily be confused with a glory-hunter. A player with his obvious signs of lack of confidence doesn't have the mentality of a glory-hunter, he's just trying to succeed and establish himself. Doesn't help when he's at the tremendous disadvantage of having to prove himself against the club record signing, as he undoubtedly knows damn well he has to work all the harder.

Danny Rose off to a CL team?

Can't see it myself. He's had a very good season but a bigger one lies ahead.

Funny how things have changed with Rose. Think we can all recall the general reaction on Twitter when he signed his new contract. Now he's a pretty vital part of our defense and I personally would be sad to see him go and think it'd be very difficult to replace him.
