ITK indicating a return to the norm for our transfer business.
Tried to get business done early but all gone quiet. Same old.
I’m just holding onto the ITK that suggested Poch would only sign if guarantees were made about getting targets in.

It's like buying a house though. If there's a break in the chain it gets held up and a lot has to fall in the right place to get most deals done, especially when many proposed sellers can't even buy replacements. Bound to be slow IMO.

Only problem is, if a club doesn't want to sell or a player doesn't want to come to us, then how can you guarantee this? Was it more of the contact renewal or we would try for players he wants?
Thought we had deals lined up

@Archibald&Crooks fancy saving yourself several pages of annoyance by telling us if that post can be considered itk or not?
It's not ITK, he's not been verified and I've had no contact from him even trying to be verified. He might have sent a Pm to Rob but TBH I don't care, if you've got info, if you're an ITK, you get verified BEFORE you post anything else is taking the piss out of the whole process.

Thanks! I wasn’t trying to be pushy or impudent, genuinely had the best of intentions to just keep everything on track.

Nope, nothing here.

How do you know that there are not deals in place already? We've been told recently that the club is almost on lock down in terms of info re. transfers. Poch is probably abroad or on his hols. Just a little bit of patience. And after all we were told Poch was signing his new contract and it didn't get announced until at least a week later.

We do
I would argue that both Dele and Lucas also show that we are capable of doing early business when possible.

We usually do something early on. Very good chance we will this window as well. People need to remember who we are, and who is in charge though.

I have posted before on this subject regarding how and why we do our transfer business, and regardless of Poch signing a new deal that isn't going to change. A lot of you are expecting us to get the bulk of incomings in early because Poch said "we need to be brave" but that is not the reality.

We are NOT high enough up the pecking order to go toe to toe with the elite clubs for signings.
Agents are advising players to wait and see what offers they get before committing.
Clubs are waiting to see what happens at the WC before wanting to let go.

I know this goes against other stuff being said but that I am told is the reality. We do business late on usually for good reason, it is financially beneficial. Yes getting players early is good as far as prep is concerned, I get that, but for other reasons we have to do things differently. In that respect(the timing of the incomings/outgoings) it will be business as usual with most.

The very nature of this window also means that we will have to do our transfer business earlier than usual also. We won't be trying to suddenly pigeon hole players into the team 3 weeks after the season has started. My only concern here is that our players will still be available for a further 2 weeks when we will have no opportunity to replace them if needed.

Fair point but remember Poch has the final say on ALL ins and outs. Nothing has changed there. Players won't be sold from underneath him, regardless of the circumstances. If Poch says no we can't afford to lose them now, it will be a no.

Cheers Trix. I think a lot of this is just the usual summer window anxiety and that there was a large influx of itk (as there usually is) followed bt silence which makes people antsy. Love the info we get as always (y).

There are only around three and a half weeks between the end of the World Cup and the new transfer deadline day on 9th August. Obviously it depends on who we are buying but that’s a short amount of time to get things done this window if some of our targets are playing in the WC. Could be a messy one but it’s all part of the fun.

As long as we don't sell any first team players I'm not sure it matters when we sign players. Our first team is strong enough to get off to a good start. We just need to make sure we get the right players to add more competition for places.
