Unless we manage to off load Bassong (no ITK whatsoever) or include him in the deal for Cahill (media reporting Coyle wouldn't be interested in that) I cant see why Levy will go for it....but I would love Cahill.

Nice batch of stuff in the past hour, and very interesting stuff as well, thanks JJ, Akqa and Rebrab !

When was the last time we had ITK on Lisandro Lopez ? Still think he would be a very cerebral choice, even although he has picked up an ankle injury a couple of days ago.

Other strikers/attackers who could fit the definition of being great signings from left field...

Jovetic
Soldado
Nilmar

Right, I've got to get off to bed 'cos it's going to be one loooong day tomorrow and my kids are going to be jumping on my bed in about five hours time.
Thank God, I've got a catering sized jar of Nescafe!

Yep, £20m supposedley for Hunts - be impressive if they get Gotze

honigstein said that arsenal were told he is available for 35 million euros, which he was shocked at, as earlier his source said it would be better for gotze to stay another year,

Cant see huntelaar and park going to arse unless chamakh leaves though park can play AM

If Crouch stays we are f*cked as he is catalyst or domino in most of our deals happening....

You sound alot more confident mate, Frankly I would take bellamy parker and CB atm

I think levy will try something big to stop backlash of bad window, whether it comes off or not is another question

Also I wonder if you can answer this question that is bugging me, why is alnwick still at the club is he threatening to release another tape if we release him?

Well, it cheers me up a hell of a lot.
OK, they didn't come to fruition but it backs up a lot of itk that was heard and also shows that we were out there, trying to sign players of the type and calibre we needed.
We don't sign everyone we go for but that fact that we are trying, in the right places, offers reassurance.

I'd rather hear something like that, than that we nearly signed Carlton Cole and Upson*.

JJ - if we did nearly sign CC and Upson, please don't burst my happy bubble!!

Yep, certainly positive that we were in for them but frustrating not to sign at least one of them - makes you wonder why none came to fruition? Obviously we wont sign everyone we go for but the only player of that caliber we've signed in a long while has been VDV which had a element of luck.

What can't you see Levy going for, mate? Cahill?

I'm hoping he will, just the situation with Bassong if he cant be sold or loaned out I guess...perhaps he could sold in January or loaned out

Maybe if Gallas is looking pretty crocked it won't matter, just not sure.

I really, really hope we get Cahill in too. It's in the club's hands though.

That's true and we managed to miss our best chance of attracting more players on that level, when we had CL footie.
It's hard for us to be much of a lure to world renowned players which is why, in my opinion, we need to be heading for the Berba, Luka style signings - signings that the clubs bigger than us aren't quite sure about yet (Utd for Berba, although they got him in the end, we made £20m from it. Arse for Luka, although...well, Wenger is a gimp!).
The problem with this approach is fourfold - they are hard to find; they may take time to adapt; they may not reach their potential; they might just see us as a stepping stone and if we fail to reach the dizzy heights...:hello:

We need to find that sub level between a raw Berba and World class.
Could Leandro fit this bracket?

Transfer deadline day is pretty cool when living overseas. 8 hours behind the UK so by the time I get up the madness will be half way over. Hopefully we'll have a couple players in the bag before my breakfast!
