Lamela is not first choice and I don't believe he ever will be. I think MoPo did not even want him on the bench yesterday and there was a very interesting post in his thread from someone who "takes a very keen interest in his career" who says Bambi is more suited to Spain or Italy.

Serious question to you prawn... are you really a spurs fan?

Yes totally different players, but are effective in their own areas, would probably make a pretty awesome pairing. These rumours of a bad attitude concern me about cabaye though. Seems right about now the young squad have a togetherness which is growing.

Oh no doubt they'd be a wonderful pairing, albeit a very expensive one.

Agree on the attitude concerns. It seems Poch has finally removed the sludge from the core of the squad, and it's massively paying dividends. Absolutely do not need that crap creeping back in. I have to hold out hope it would work out though, as I do think Cabaye would be wonderful for our first XI.

Still think it's massively unlikely though. Just can't see us dropping that amount of cash for the player with us needing to address the forward position options. I think we'll go after Delph, who would be cheap, is English, youngish, hard-working, and would fit in immensely with Poch's system. I think he could go on to be an extremely shrewd signing for us with his contract winding down. I don't think he would cause any problems with the squad dynamic, and if anything may even improve it with his Prem experience and work ethic.

Totally agree as a player Cabaye would be a great signing, just my concern as stated.

By all accounts Dembele was showing his best again yesterday so if that continues Bentaleb and mason being our first choice, Dembele in the mix, I think it would be prudent to have an experienced head in midfield for the youngers to learn from, same situation as Kane up front. I just don't want to disturb what we do have. I think Dembele, paulinho, chiriches, soldado, Stambouli, Townsend and Lennon all who haven't played much will be enough. I'm not bothered if we sign no one this window.

As ridiculous as it sounds less than 24 hours after yesterday's triumph, I would be bothered because I think we currently have a great opportunity to get 4th. IMO, this opportunity is even more open than it was two or three years ago. Arsenal, Liverpool, Man U, and especially Everton are not that strong this year, and none of them consistent. If Kane goes down or if Mason goes out for an extended period, I think we lose that opportunity. I think even just cheap and prudent signings such as Delph or Ings would really deflect the chances of such an issue derailing our season trajectory.

Exactly. Somehow, we are 3 points off 3rd and it would be criminal for us to not improve our team in this window with a chance like this. But that's the problem, we all remember January 2012 when we were in an even better position and didn't do what was required in the window and we (they) fucked (them)ourselves up. Unfortunately, I have learnt to have low expectations so I'm prepared for a failure of epic proportions in this upcoming transfer window.

i agree with you prawn. I have seen nothing from him that would even make him bench worthy, let alone first choice. Just runs up blind alleys.

Holding out hope that won't be the case, so between you and I it looks like I'm likely to be the unhappier on Feb 1st.

I don't think we'll sign Ings or Cabaye, as much as I'd love to. I just don't see them happening tangibly even if they are remotely realistic. I think we'll sign some forward we've never heard of likely from South America, Delph, and Moreno. I think there's a real possibility of also grabbing Konoplyanka or Ayew if Lennon goes, but I don't think they're as likely as the above. Even so, I would be very, very surpised if Mitchell's team hasn't had a good look at Ayew considering his contract situation and the fact he's familiar with Bielsa's tactics. I really wish we wouldn't bring in that unknown from South America as I think it's too much of a gamble in England these days, but we'll just have to trust Poch and Mitchell.

This is probably spam, but you are suggesting that all our buying and selling will be based upon a game that actually took place on just about the first day of the new window? No planning, no discussing needs with the manager and no pre window chats with players, agents or clubs to sound them out?

Despite what people think actually happens, this would be no way to run a business.

[Edit] - or were you being ironic?

ironic and fear lol

I hope the appointment of Paul Mitchell goes some way towards mitigating the risk of signing a player and him not having the required application for what Mauricio wants him to do.

OOoooooooo please, please, please, please, please!!!! Pretty please with a cherry on top?!?!?!?!?!?!? Shiny new signing!

I know it would be a shock, but I could actually see this. It'd be liker Dier. Signing out of nowhere in the middle of the night that NO ONE saw coming.

...Wont happen. Not a chance in hell.:(

..exactly, it's all about momentum. if any key players get injured we have problems. There is an awful lot of games coming up.

I wanted McCarthy when we didn't get him from Wigan, think he is a very good CM and would fit the squad perfectly....

That said, think about a negotiation between Daniel Levy and Bill Kenwright for a moment...it would be all very civil and proper and take 6 months to complete....both of them would probably bring a thermos of tea just so they wouldn't "owe" anything to each other.....then again, i suppose we could be speaking with Everton now so it can be completed at 10pm on August 31.....
