Again SC has blinkers on. Joe Cole is a good little footballer who needed a solid season of playing week in and out, which he got at Lille. I wouldn't be averse to signing him, perfect competition for VDV, and would give us good attacking options.

Another one who's career stalled at the wrong club. I reckon he could suprise a few next year if he ends up back in the PL

Would be cheap to buy, wouldn't demand substantial wages after a season in France I wouldn't have thought, better than kranky and a good alternative. Wouldn't cry a river if it happened and we shifted jenas, kranky and Bentley.

He already chose Liverpool ahead of us (thankfully) because they offered him more money and a massive signing bonus. Supposedly he's on £90K a week there and while at Lille they paid him £30K while Liverpool paid £60K.

Joke Hole could play any of the three positions behind the main striker if we were playing 4231. If not too expensive could be a good deal.

The problem we had last season was that we didn't rotate. In my eyes this was because we didn't have enough quality in the squad. I woyldnt have taken anyone out of the 1st team and replaced them with anyone we had as back up with the exception of our defence... Gallas and Dawson could both do a good job. And clearly Harry wouldnt either.... Joe Cole, on form and uninjured would be a player I would have confidence bringing in... Isn't a marquee signing but is def someone that would improve our options.. which must be a good thing... In an ideal.world you would buy a few 1st teamers that would relegate some current 1st teamers to the bench.. we don't have the money to keep doing this so improving our squad is a good option... Cole would be.a good squad member.. better than a lot we already have...

forgot to mention this the other day:

we never agreed a fee with werder for marin. We were interested last summer but the only time we've spoken to them since was when both Werder and Marin's representatives (he has a couple, probably explaining his move to chelsea!) checked to see if we were interested in march time. Don't listen to his comments about 'choosing chelsea' over us, we never put in a bid sufficient to let him have the choice...

My sauce has been to watch him loads this season and reckons he could do just as good if not a better job than vdV does for us

As long as we're playing the likes of Toulouse, Sochaux and Nantes every weeek, you're probably right.

I thought Marin was so suppose to be the next big thing in Germany. Now he's not good enough to be in the German squad. What happened to him?

Funny you should say that…

We don't seem to have rotated significantly less than the rest of the top six, do we? (And bear in mind Chelsea and United both used three keepers.) I agree about the strength in depth, though, and that Cole could be a canny signing.
