i didnt mean drogba would take us backwards but he would only be good for a couple of years, (and would mean the end for crouch)then when hes finished levy will have to go and spend again instead of getting someone like llorente that could do a job now and hes only mid twenties... berbatov was unproven in the prem and look how he turned out!! I meant Charlie adam who was the main man in a shit team which made him look good, i dont understand why we need him, huddlestones much better and if the rumours are true about lassana diarra handing in a transfer request redkanpp should be looking at him, the type of player that can take us forward although dont think we need any more cms.

That happened to me once and my Derek Acorah tribute act ended as soon as it began:oops:

I don't understand us being linked with the likes of Shawcross, Jones, Downing, Adams, et al, when what we are crying out for is a striker or three.

Not enough linkage to strikers, for me.

Surely even a one eyed blind man, wearing a sack over his head in a dark room with no windows can see that.

Sort it Levy, NOW!!!

Got to look at both the short and longer term.

Without CL we will find it hard to attract the players we really want and need, so you have to sometimes make acquisitions in the short term to achieve the long term goal. That is the draw of Drogba - a player who we know can perform in PL, is a step-up from what we've got and could help us achieve what we are seeking.

When we then make CL again he will be there as a good solid performer but who will eventually be superceded by a younger player.

(In other words we need to do exactly what we didn't do last time in the striking dept. - qualify for CL and then buy the players needed, not pussy foot around looking here and there, getting no-one and then losing CL status).

I'm confused on the Eriksen info. I thought another poster on here said that he was in Denmark yesterday and had heard a rumour...

Entirely separate?

That was THOWIG.

Not sure if his info was posted up or not.

Can't see us dropping BAE to accommodate for Downing + putting Bale in a position where he's not as good.

Well Falcao mentioned us and Arsenal by name yesterday as 2 teams in prem who he knows are watching him and who he would be happy to join if the chance arose. He did also say that the Director of Porto has told him he will not be sold this year as they need him to spearhead their challenge for the champions league.

another update on Downing... He is rated very highly by Harry and the coaching staff and we are definitely after him. He wouldn't be a replacement for Bale as they believe him and Bale could form a great partnership on the left and he has also been very impressive for Villa this season on the right hand side so provides competition for Lennon. Downing wants to come but he is one of Liverpool's top targets and they could easily offer him more wages than us...watch this space

I thought those were the reasons we bought Pienaar?

Are we just loading the squad with cover or trying to block the gaps like ST/ CF
