If we go down the Downing route I will just give up. He would cost a lot more than say Nzogbia, who is a better player, if we want to go down the EPL player route.

I just dont understand why Marin and Turan arent being looked at. They are quality footballers who are gettable. It amazes me it really does

Blue & Yellow??? Atleast he is good in the air.........!

The ITK on Downing is kind of a "meh" moment, he isnt a bad player but I dont think he would command a first team place with us if Im being perfectly honest.

He's not a bad player and would be good to have in the squad, but he's English and so will be overpriced. As someone said we bought Peinaar to add to the squad and be someone who can play on either wing, what was the point buying him (6 months before he became available on a free) if we then make a move for Downing?

I'd much rather go for N'Zogbia if we are going the EPL route but we need to be quick as I'd expect Martinez to want to take him to Villa with him. Why we aren't pursuing Marin I'll never know.

It annoys me that all the itk seems to be linking us with what could be classed as squad players. Even leandro and osvaldo would be too to start with, that's why I'm not against signing the established stars as such which harry was alluding to. Just would like to see a risk taken of falcao if he is indeed actually classed as a risk,

I can easily see Harry going for Downing but I believe Villa wont want to sell him. Young will probably leave as he only has 1 year left on his contract and would Villa really let both him and Downing go in the same window? Unless perhaps Martinez gets the Villa job and takes N'Zogbia with him.

There's a post on SO saying that Tottenham's match day announcer, Pete Abbott, has been on talksport this morning saying we're after Drogba, Parker and Ferdinand.

I guess it's not too much of a stretch to imagine a match day announcer would know people who know what is going on at the club, so does that count as ITK?

He didn't mention Falcao...

I'm surprised we havent been linked yet with the wonderfully named French lad Marvin Martin. He has racked up an impressive 19 assits this year for Sochaux, 9 more than Gervinho and 11 more than Hazard. He even netted twice on his France debut last week.

another update on Downing... He is rated very highly by Harry and the coaching staff and we are definitely after him. He wouldn't be a replacement for Bale as they believe him and Bale could form a great partnership on the left and he has also been very impressive for Villa this season on the right hand side so provides competition for Lennon. Downing wants to come but he is one of Liverpool's top targets and they could easily offer him more wages than us...watch this space

thanks for the info

if this is harry ambition levy needs tp do a sugar on him and "OI Droppy Face ...... YOUR FIRED!"

Two big club rejects and a player who never quite fulfilled his potential. Triffic.

Shouldn't really get too worked up with the ITKs. ITKs are all fun and games.

Keep in mind how many of the so called ITKs actually become confirmed transfers and how many confirmed transfers/actually transfer interests never had any ITKs i.e. van der Vaart and Phil Jones.

If there is any ITK on any impending transfers, the transfer story has already been widely reported by the mainstream media.

The classic was a few seasons ago when the mainstream media said the we were going to sign Santana from Fiorentina with quotes from his agent and Fiorentina's chairman I think and all the top ITKs Ben, etc said yes Spurs were signing him. It turned out that it was all mischief making from Santana's agent IRRC.

I've been saying for months we will go for Ferdinand. He could well be surplus to requirements at Man United next season and he's got just the kind of mentality we need at the club. He still speaks to Harry a lot as well.

I think you'll find that the Goat confirmed our interest in Phil Jones in October/November of last year

Reader of the 'Scouting' thread in General Footy, eh?

Can't say I blame you. Some very, very wise people indeed post in there.

Disagree so much it hurts.

Some folk on here, it's like we are linked with Mr CannonballManDanDareSuperManSteveAustinBruce Lee and they pass no comment, and as soon sa their is even a tenuous and unconfirmed link to a player they, personally, don't want (for some reason, usually bizarre and ill-thought out), they sound like Fraser off of Dad's Army "We're doomed, man, doomed I tell ya".

Get a fookin' grip, for fook sake:roll:

Drogba, Parker and Rio Ferdinand would be classic 'Arry signings.

Not saying that they'd be bad at all, but I would be a little bit concerned about Rio Ferdinand's injuries.

They would tick the Harry Redknapp 'we need experience' box, but I still feel that someone fresh like Falcao and Damaio are needed too.

BBC has got quotes from Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins that they are in talks with us to take Steven Caulker on loan for the season. I think that'd be a great move for him, Ash Williams is a class power CB and I'm not sure Monk will make the transition to the premiership. Caulker is just the right kind of player to partner Williams (recently captained Wales) and a season in the Premiership will be just what he needs to hopefully challenge for a first team place with us the following season. As a swansea fan as well as a spurs fan, that's a move that would really impress me!
