BBC has got quotes from Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins that they are in talks with us to take Steven Caulker on loan for the season. I think that'd be a great move for him, Ash Williams is a class power CB and I'm not sure Monk will make the transition to the premiership. Caulker is just the right kind of player to partner Williams (recently captained Wales) and a season in the Premiership will be just what he needs to hopefully challenge for a first team place with us the following season. As a swansea fan as well as a spurs fan, that's a move that would really impress me!

that would be a great move as long as he plays regular. Anyone know when his contract expires with us?

Reader of the 'Scouting' thread in General Footy, eh?

Can't say I blame you. Some very, very wise people indeed post in there.
Lol, im sorry to say that Ive never even entered that section of the site. I picked up on this guy when looking at soccernets stats on the french league and was amazed by how many assists he had compared to anyone else in the league.

Would be an excellent move for him.

Swansea are also apparently after Marcos Senna on a Bosman, who'd be a far better (and cheaper) option for us than Parker as a 4th choice WP/JJ/JOH replacement.

Why do People moan that were only interested in average, squad players etc?
We can all see that we've got a lot of dead wood in the squad and if the powers that be think we can reduce the squad whilst improving the overall quality, so be it, and let then get on with it!

At the end of the day I'm sure not all 'itk' is being fed out, so lets just enjoy it for what it is or STFU!

Whys that dan because he's foreign, or is it just that you don't like the current Football writers footballer of the year?

:roll:This despite the fact his legs went about 3 years ago, still good on Football Manager is he?

The problem would be that if we sign some of the squad/journeyman players we are linked to, they'll become deadwood instantly.

How long before Friedel starts being called that? It took less than 6 months with Keane and Pienaar, about a year with Defoe.

We need 3 forwards who are a considerable improvement on Defrouchenko, not 3rd choice GKs and 4th/5th choice CMs.

Senna will be a good rotation player for Swansea as they lack a good physical midfielder, but he's no longer good enough for us. I really don't understand how someone who rails on and on about Parker being too old and a waste of money at 30 can argue that Senna at 34 is a better option.

No, but he's £10m cheaper than Parker and would be on less wages.

We're only talking about a 10 games a season player (i.e. cover for when two of Modric, Sandro and Hudd are injured).

I also thought Parker was primarily coming for his off pitch experience/leadership. Well while Parker is experienced at relegation battles, Senna is experienced at winning world cups and euros.

Well past it, his legs have gone.

Have you watched Parker play in the spring? He hits the wall every winter now too.

Unfortunately Dan, we dont live in your FM world where we can do these things instantly.
99% of us agree we need new strikers and Im sure there are things going on behind the scenes that will mean we do get these. By clearing space with the deadwood [GDS, Keane, JJ, hutton et al] it will lead to us improving the squad as a whole

That will not be Parker's role and you are very blind if you think it will.

Your pissing against the wind here Dan, just because he won that award (joke as Vidic/VDS/Modric/etc was far more deserving, Bale's award was a joke too) he must be the bollox as our manager keeps on telling us he's a top, TOP player.....
