Ha ha, slow motion reply showed he nearly missed.

Belgium have been very good but I don't see what the fuss is about Witsel, Dembele is better for my money. Less said about Mertens the better too.

Nearly missed? Squarely into the corner, opened his foot nicely. Excellent positioning too, lookung across the linefrom the back post .

Witsels impressive too, but as you say astutely this time dembele and now wanyama will do nicely.

Do you think? Janssen looks like he has absolutely nothing bar finishing and a bit of number 9 play/movement to me (which doesn't make him a bad player, could be brilliant). I've seen a lot more of Batshuayi and if anything I'd say his number 9 attributes are his weakest points - movement etc. He has much better technical and physical traits, good on the ball, which make his position more subject to change, imo.

Berahino wasn't really part of this same list, seeing as we signed Son instead. Wing forward, with half a mind toward covering Kane.

I think we need/ed backups, competition for Kane and Dier but the player who would make a real difference to our first team, and up us a level in terms of threatening other teams, is a forward who stretches defenses. Alli mitigated that somewhat with his goals and runs, but that Rodriguez/Berahino role is one we are yet to fill and I will be hugely disappointed if we just sign a couple of backups/competition without progressing our first 11 in a significant way. One player, one excellent signing. We may have a stadium to fund,, but the tv deal is 100-150 mil a season, plus sponsorship. If (big if) Bats if that player, quibbling over 8 million or so difference in a transfer fee, if (again big if) that was the case would be ridiculous.

Lots of hypotheticals - but Levy could well be waiting it out, knowing OM are under a lot of pressure, and the player wants to come to us. Would be the only sensible way to play a strong hand.

----I also think a signing like Boufal/Ousmane Dembele would have filled the gap in a different way, one that might be a good balance, with eriksen/alli
Looks like he has nothing except finishing? What like Kane before Poch started coaching him?

Squarely into the corner? Yes. Opened his foot nicely? Yes. A mis-hit that could have ended up anywhere? Absolutely.

Cheers Grey Fox, but that's July's line! You should have held it back a week or so.

June tournaments, players away on hols
July difficult market, stay patient still time
August last two weeks is where most of the business is done, when deadline day passes you,can moan

Seen this one before
1 hour before window shuts "we've got this"

Why didn't we go for Mane before Liverpool? Price?

A few reasons,
. First the price no way will we entertain such a deal.
.secondly he is a bit of a moody fuck could potentially damage team spirit.
.and thirdly he might not fit into the managers vision of the club.
Not every player we dont sign is a missed oppurtunity sometimes there are other factors.

SCBC have pretty publicly set his price at £40 Million and having watched him at St Marys I'd say he's only worth signing if you're willing to let him have a free role as any attempt to tell him what position to play appears to have fallen on deaf ears. Most Saints fans I know aren't even vaguely concerned about him going as long as they get a decent fee for him.

I can see deja vu here. We all said last season, there is no way we will not sign a Kane back up. Guess what - we didn't. :D We got a wing forward thingy or two but no matter how many times Poch would argue they were Kane back up - who would really believe that crap. This window our targets are shrinking again or at least the ones we are being told are targets. I cant see much happening once you are two weeks from deadline day. It becomes too difficult for selling clubs to replace their players. So we better get a move on and not spend 6 weeks wanking over someone like Berahino again. I am tired of all that shit. The fans will be frustrated yet again watching a decent CL/PL campaign slip from our grasp because we are so bloody slow to act.

time flies quickly dude..we'll be there soon enough with no action having taken place...when a Troy Deeney is 25m quid I think Levy will be looking for a cheaper way to placate the masses :D
