Sounds like someone leaked a smokescreen that we were close to Batshuayi to encourage other players to lower their demands.

Sorry I've only just got home and just going through the threads. Only just got to the Chelsea but in the Bats thread

Not sure I believe it if I'm being honest. I still don't think we'll get him, but for some reason I just can't see Bats signing for Chelsea in the next couple of days!

Taking into account JJ's "intersting" comment about he DM story about Bats, I would hazard a guess that JJ is hinting that the DM piece might help remind Maresille that Bats wants to come to us (not Palace or West Ham) and they need to money before 5th July, so they should stop messing around with fake stories (Palace Bid) and drop their asking price, as they need the money more than we need Bats.

But then I usually read too much into things.

Its better that we learn this early that a club above our pay grade wanted him and will thus take him, than it is another 2-4 weeks down the line. We can now concentrate on option number 2 on our list with plenty of time still to spare.

There are teams that can spend 40m on a player and have the player fail and there are teams that cant...simple as that. Sporting reasons, hes a good player who can be great. There are other strikers who are good and can be great also..he's not the end all-be all.

Reported that Janssen was on holiday until Sunday when he had to report to AZ training. IF he is our number 2, could happen very quickly.

So, before we try to work out what the truth is and what the lie is, we first need to work out why we would want to use the truth to cover up a lie.

I don't post very often but I think I've figured it out. We put out the vibe that we were going for batshitcrazy then Chelsea bids and wins while we swoop in for their main target Morata. Cue the optimism.
