I think one thing to be careful about - links in the media could just as easily be from agents and/or selling teams trying to create a market for their player.

TBH in terms of media I was more talking about articles by Matt law etc, who’s clearly well connected talking about the 150m kitty

We probably "look" at dozens, maybe even hundreds of players. There's a difference between an article in The Sun saying we're interested/looking and actually pursuing a player.

I think my point has got a bit misconstrewed, I agree but then let’s not have the club through all available channels that things will be different this year, just make it clear to fans that we’re operating in a different sense to other teams and the number of people being disappointed will decrease.

I agree media is usually unreliable but sometimes it’s right and is definatly feed by the club and I was just mentioning it to make it clear I wasn’t having a go at the itks.

It can’t just be a coincidence that we’ve gone from the players we were being linked to with big prices being banded around to more modest ones like rondon, shaqiri, grealish etc. And whilst I don’t have a problem with those kind of signings if that’s what we have to do because I trust poch, I can see why some get annoyed at thinking we’re getting Bale and then signing rondon on the cheap on deadline day

Some ITK comes from the club's perspective. Some comes from contacts with agents and/or players. Same for a journo like Law - he will have contacts at the club, he will read this thread (Hi, Matt!), he will have contacts with agents and even players.

We will, and should, look at loads of players. By all accounts we are looking at top quality players as our first choices - and therein lies the rub, as Trix pointed out. Its not so simple to get our first choices - its a complex puzzle matching up players and teams. So we have to have contingencies in place to fill needs.

I look at the Poch and Kane signings as the most important business we could do this summer. Now that is out of the way - it is much easier to go "sell" the Tottenham story to potential players. We are attracting the attention of top players - I think the days of an Angel di Maria moaning about being linked to Spurs are long gone.

ITK says we are willing and able to spend big this summer. I have faith that will happen.
