Pleat dropping the bomb on 5 Live:

Someone suggested Barkley's agent could have wanted a piece of the £35m.

Pleat then said, very deliberately, "OR another club could have had a word in his agent's ear and said that we will match whatever Chelsea offer in January".

Everyone else ignored it and kept speculating, but Pleat often drops these inside gems, he obviously knows what goes on at Spurs, and by all accounts has Levy's ear.

You gotta love pleat. Tottenham through & through

Assuming we don't completely shit the bed and somehow miss out on Llorente, I'm pleasantly surprised by that signing. Winning mentality and Champions League experience, plus an unusual signing for us given his age, which is nice to see as it suggests perhaps it was a MP signing.

What I can't forgive is not signing a wide forward or at the very least Barkley, both of whom Pochettino clearly wanted. I know the BSODL are a fanatical bunch, but if we you remotely trust the ITK then it's clear that he felt we needed to strengthen in that area, and we haven't.

We are marginally stronger... if the players we have bought settle well! Could have done with more competitive depth.

after the dust has settled, i'd love to hear about the wing forwards we were after, and in turn why we couldn't pull them off.
Tbf why should anyone have to answer your questions on the matter? We all wanted some fresh faces, we need them, I am pretty disappointed. You take all ITK with a pinch of salt fella. You will learn, we all learn.

if we were really serious about getting a pacey winger we wouldnt't have left it till the last day, this was always going to be the outcome
That's if you actually believe we were in for a "pacey wide forward". The ITK that seldom comes to fruition, strangely enough, always falls within the category of "what the fans want to hear".

Almost as if they want us to come back for more.

He's over reacting but most managers want to strengthen their team not just replace players. Look how pissed Conte is and they have done pretty similar busines to us really.
We have strengthened the team. Maybe not so much the squad but fuck me, we’ve bought some top players in.

I think the bed wetting here is a bit excessive, we've probably slightly improved and I think we've had an average, satisfactory window. Right back is probably about a like for like change and we've improved our back up at CB and striker.

I hardly think anyone outside of Spurs fans are going to look at Tottenham and think we've had a shocking window.

One more extra addition of Barkley/ Gomes or/ and a wing forward would have been a truly great window

He's talking about the fact that ITK has said that Pochettino wanted RB and he also wanted an attacker with pace.

So far this hasn't happened.

Looking likely that it won't happen at this late time.

yes, but we never heard that from Poch or Levy. So we dont know who was off the mark, Levy or the ITK.

I don't think we were ever gonna get pace / wing forward / game changer, it just the normal stuff we get from levy PR team.... I don't know how this guy still has as many fans... Yes new stadium but the money coming in from tv revenue and CL football 2 seasons on trot with Wembley gate receipts.... where is the money going???!!

Really running out of patience with him, he best get some contracts sorted for Toby, Dier, Alli, Eriksen and Kane so we guarantee none of them go next summer as I cant believe any of them are impressed with not getting that support for Eriksen/Alli.

If you want to know where the money is going read the financials. You can google them or find them on here. I've personally posted them twice.
Educate yourself so we don't have to put up with the moaning.

We didn't though did we. Our number 1 target for that position strung us along for months. This ain't football manager.

I'm looking forward to hearing the disection from the ITKs with what happened regarding various deals that were supposedly on the table. Not throwing any shade, as they pass on obviously legit info in good faith, I'd just be interested to know what went down and how close or otherwise we were to any of these fabled pacy forwards

So would I, because, respectfully, it doesn't look like there were any serious links to any pacy forwards whatsoever. Obviously things can change, but does seem a bit perplexing.

We have been told constantly that poch wanted Barkley and a pace upfront.forget any of us, is he happy with not getting either
No he will not be. And of course we will loose him. I think next summer window will be worst ever. I'm pretty sure we were only able to keep our best players ( except walker of course who wasn't falling for it again) with promise of ambition.
