Assuming we don't completely shit the bed and somehow miss out on Llorente, I'm pleasantly surprised by that signing. Winning mentality and Champions League experience, plus an unusual signing for us given his age, which is nice to see as it suggests perhaps it was a MP signing.

What I can't forgive is not signing a wide forward or at the very least Barkley, both of whom Pochettino clearly wanted. I know the BSODL are a fanatical bunch, but if we you remotely trust the ITK then it's clear that he felt we needed to strengthen in that area, and we haven't.

Barkley can't play till Christmas anyway so what's the problem with waiting till January?

Main problem last year - back-up for Kane not adequate enough.

Signed a vastly experienced Striker who's even proven at PL level, scoring 15 goals for a terrible team.

For anyone who thinks the window was a failure because we didn't sign Barkley, what exactly was Levy supposed to do?

Everton were demanding an extortionate fee for a player in the final year of his contract who won't even be available until the winter anyway. There's no way that Levy was going to shell out 30m plus wages on a player whose transfer value will be half that in January, especially when the player wouldn't have even played until January!

Unlike Chelsea we are not a club that can afford to flush 20m down the drain.

Pleat just said that a few years ago he was on a deadline day show, it was very slow, and so the presenter straight up fabricated a transfer rumour to keep the convo going. "He said a certain player had been seen in an Islington cafe".

Puts to bed any doubt, if there ever was any, that Sky and the like absolutely make shit up.

We didn't though did we. Our number 1 target for that position strung us along for months. This ain't football manager.

just because he was our number 1 target doesn't mean theirs nobody else that coulda been signed, we always knew we lacked pace

We have a settled squad that finished 2nd last year, and now we have added better quality of depth. Our new players will be afforded time to integrate with minimal impact.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are fucked, Chelsea are going to have issues between manager and board, Liverpool and City failed to sign centre-backs which were their weaknesses.
