It is not ideal to sell a proven striker mid season and replace him with someone who would take time to adapt.

Normally I'd agree with this and I can certainly see where you're coming from but the problem is that Defoe doesn't work particularly well in our system if we are asking him to replace Adebayor.

Personally I'd keep Defoe, sell Pav and bring in another striker who can hold the ball up so that we effectively have a selection from Adebayor + one for the target man role and VdV + Defoe for the other role.

When I say I am disappointed I dont mean in his performances this season. HE has been relatively good this season.

I mean in his attitude. He publically declares so much love for the club. I thought he was one of us. A proper Spurs. Yet he is willing to jump ship in a year in which we are challenging for titles. A year in which we are on the verge of our best season in years, all because he wants to improve his chances of making the England Squad for the Euros, in which he will, in all likelyhood, warm the bench at best for half a dozen games.
Severe lack of respect shown to the club that pays his wages and the fans that sing his name.

i love spurs to the absolute core and spend thousands travelling over every season but lets get one thing straight, defoe is a greedy ****. in every single interview or press clipping its all about me me me.. i got fitness coach in summer to work hard. i just want to play, i score goals. i feel strong..he never had a real striker partner in his life to make him that even better player cos of he way he is.. he acts and plays selfishly and his only concern is what he does. personally i dont think he gives shite whether we win league or not as long as he gets a game. no one will change my opinion on that. he just strikes me as a lad i def would not get on with. he is a good impact player for us and should be allowed play against real lower down teams now and again but its obvious why harry does not play him from start or reguraly and rightly so imo.

saying that and like any other player for us , selling him to a rival and team challenging at the top end is simply not on.. sell him to qpr to be with pal wright philips. end of.

Lets get one thing straight. There is absolutely NO way that Harry would sell Defoe mid season and replace him with a striker that is new to the league. It would be suicidal.

I can see us replacing Pav with a more versatile striker but not Defoe who we know is guaranteed to score goals for us between now and the end of the season.

Selling Defoe would a huge mistake. By all means, if he wants to go in the summer, and we can get a good price, and we can get a replacement in before he goes, then fine, let him go.

If we sign a striker this window I'll be amazed.

In fact I'm so confident that we won't, I'll go to the Emirates on Arsenals next home game and pretend to be a statue, complete in full Arsenal kit, if we do.

Brave (or possibly foolish) words my friend.
While I doubt that we will sign a striker, it could well be argued that they've had several windows in which to line up their targets, it should just be a simple matter of saying "go".
I should be amazed if they don't sign a striker this window.

What delights can today bring?

I wonder if redknapp is back home or he's waking up to a nice croissant and a contract to hand over.

On that basis, we've got fuck all chance of Deschamps selling Remy.

What you actually mean is this, as we could sign someone who makes an immediate impact although the odds of that are rather slim.

Nevertheless I agree with you that it would be silly to sell a proven goal scorer in the PL mid season, especially to a club who could have a direct impact on where we finish.

I agree. Unless Marseilles need the money.

The only thing that gives me hope on the Remy deal is that Harry went to the game yesterday and sat with the Marseilles directors. Surely he wouldn't have been courting the player so publically if we hadn't already been given some encouragement that a deal could be struck.

This Defoe story has some legs as the last time we sent up an Agent to Liverpool to infiltrate their game plan. Robbie came back for half his fee and job completed.

This.
For now.
Replace Pav.
Why I am more in favour of a move for Leandro than any other - as he could be able to cover/compete with Adebayor, and capable of playing with VDV or Defoe (theoretcally, we never actually know how such things would work out until they are tried).

I think Marseille are actually pretty well off which is unfortunate :(

Agreed. I don't quite understand why we're so balls out for Remy rather than an alternative to Adebayor. Remy won't be able to play upfront on his own and won't replace Bale on the left so I'm not sure what we're planning to do with him really.

I wouldn't mind if it was too replace Defoe - but that is something we can wait for until the Summer. No need to change two strikers with two unproven in the Prem. in the middle of a massive season.

I think Harry sees him as being able to cover for Ade. In a recent interview it was a telling that he made the point of saying "he can play through the middle"
