Words can barely express how underwhelmed i am at the mere mention of Shane Long being a potential transfer target, let alone having to read through 10 pages of debate as to wether or not he'd be a good addition to our squad, (a simple 'no' would have answered that question)

Anyway, Tim Krul? yep, i'd be well happy with that, but not if it meant spunking 12million+ at the expense of buying a striker, say, oh I don't know, Leandro?

That's not how it works... its not one or the other, it is a case of strengthening any position where the right players are available. If Krul is gettable now, then why not get him? And I am sure we could still buy a striker, the issue remains is the right striker available and interested?

Let's end this one or other myth though, that would only happen if it were torres or tevez, then it would be one over the other!

Krul fits the bill for me. £12m+ for a good GK that you will hopefully get 10 years out of is a great ROI.

On a side note I literally had no idea that Steven Fletcher was 24. I always thought he was about 33. Even when he scored that header against us last season I was even madder thinking we let some washed up journey man get the equaliser.

Let’s say we are looking at Shane Long to come in as our 3rd choice striker. Which I am not completely against as he works hard, holds up the ball well and can finish. He has a magnificent hard working attitude and hunger that you can expect him to come on in a game and put in a real shift and offer something. Not a world beater, but every squad in the world has players like this in their squad.

Shane Long as our 3rd choice striker. For me as useful as Welbeck as Man Utds 3rd choice striker, better than Chamack, better than Kuyt.

Of course I’d love Damiaoo & Remy, or any number of top drawer strikers.

But if we are looking for a number 3, premiership proven striker, I wouldn’t be completely against the signing of someone like Long or Fletcher.
