Interesting that Newcastle are in talks over Papiss Cisse, particularly as he's at the ACN!!!

Demba Ba replacement??

What has got folk so worked up already (other than previous experience Eek), is that we know Adebayor will be ineligible for the Citeh, and doubt either Defoe or Pav will be fitting as a replacement (somehow).

Than and a piece of ITK at the beginning of the window claiming that Redknapp was absolutely insistent that all transfers deals be done early in the window.

Oh, and the fact that they are a bunch of excitable big girlies blouses

And, might I add, the fact that we've all been down this road before on the last 4/5 TW's.

i know that i will be in a minority here..........but I am gald that Ade is not available for the City game. He has been poor up front recently, his shots are akin to Crouch's sometimes and i think teams have worked us out with him. His hold up play is good but i want more from him

City won't quite know how we are going to play with out him and i feel sure Harry is working on a plan as we speak.

Defoe can do a good job in my opinion

It's worth noting that this is the first transfer window in years where I've not been remotely bothered whether we sign anyone or not.

There's no-one out there who is realistic that I really want and no-one I'm desperate to get rid of (apart from GDS).

Hell, even me, the arch-Pav-hater, wants to keep him until the summer.

I wouldn't mind Leandro coming in if Pav goes but that's it really.

If he (Ade) would just shoot instead of trying to find a pass when in the 6 yard box, he might, just might, score more goals.

His hold up play is beyond good.

His hold up play is possibly one of the biggest factors we've been playing as well as we have.

He still has 9 League goals to his name.

I really find it hard to not insult anyone who is glad that the best striker we've had at the Lane since an in-the-mood Berbatov, is on the bench.

Jesus.

Is it not clearly now the time to 'StoofSmurf' Mancini?

Everything you say is true but if you look at the cold, hard facts we have had six or seven transfer windows since we sold Berbatov and in all that time have managed to bring in one decent striker, on loan. Regardless of whether we know the ins and outs of what has gone on, it's pretty poor.

All the same we havn't done badly since Berbatov left, even if had to get worse before it got better, and now way better...regardless of how we feel about another striker our improvement has been immense and the Chairman and manager deserve our trust and faith in that respect.

We all want another forward, just have to trust the powers that be.

It amazes me how many people fail to see this.

Was "goals from the side" goals from out wide/wingers?

Tevez or Cavani don't fall into that category if so. Remy is one of those types though.

Bale's a decent goals from out wide type player... maybe a sneaky £50m bid?!

But that is exactly why we need someone (like Leandrio) to be cover/competition for him.

Playing VDV/Defoe and taking ther munchkin approach might just work...but it is one hell of a risk IMHO.

Skint and wages are the two I'd go for. I don't think skint is quite right as I assume there is money there just not in the amounts some are expecting, such as £20m+ on one striker. If you don't have unlimited funds and are not reckless, what are you supposed to do if clubs won't take the money offered? People must also remember that there is a great deal of difference between listing players you assume to be getable for a reasonable price and the reality when we enquire about said players. If a player is deemed good enough to improve our first team (Which is what I presume we are looking at), they are going to be quality and hence teams aren't going to just let them go for 'reasonable' money - especially not in January.

We are third in the league, Harry is right when he says it is hard to upgrade the first team, we are sitting in 3rd, comfortably I might add, so where do you upgrade realistically? Only place I see it is 'Goals From The Side'. If you can find a player who can get 'Goals From The Side', create chances for others and play alongside Ade or on their own upfront, you are talking a quality player, which brings us back to the start and being 'skint' and 'wages'. Tevez, Remy, Cavani? All three would be that player, bidding would surely start at £20m, wages also would start at about 80k and that is being optimistic. Best of luck Danny.

With great difficulty, but the priority surely has to be back up for Adebayor which means this talk of upgrading, Harry's words etc, I don't really see as that crucial.

I haven't actually seen a great deal of Papisse Cisse but from what little I did see,he looks pretty decent.

However I really do rate the scouting network that Newcastle have in place and if they are looking at him then we really should be all over it.

We should be trying to recruit there scouting network IMO.

They have one of the best in the premiership.

As a finisher he looks very good from what I've seen. Think we may be a bit late though. SSN saying that the deal will be done today if it will at all.

Thinking that they've done a great job overall but a shocking one specifically when it comes to the striking department are not mutually exclusive. I don't disagree with you in essence but find it frustrating, as I firmly feel that if Adebayor gets injured we are fucked. Let's keep our fingers crossed that he doesn't.
