In the chaos of last night I never did figure out what happened to Jenus's transfer to Sunderland. Anybody know what happened?
I read that both the Rose deal and Jenas deal were agreed at the same time, an either or.. but both wanted to go, as they can have 1 loan player they chose Rose instead.

Don't know about anyone else but I am feeling numb and still don't know of it was a good or bad transfer window. I guess we will find out in the weeks ahead.
My New Year's resolution will be to keep away from the ITK thread

Thank you to everybody who has contributed over possibly the most turbulent windo of our time. The entertainment level in here has been nothing short of sensational.

I think we can all reflect on the window with a sense of satisfaction. The club kept face in the negotiations for luka modric. A player that was destined to go, but ultimately left on our terms. A fantastic player who deserves to ply his trade at the worlds biggest club.
The club showed immense loyalty by ensuring Lesley kings non playing days are centred around the club from which he is quite rightly seen as a legend.
We also showed a great deal of compassion. Rafa van der vaart leaving us was a painful experience. But it was more important that he should be allowed to move away with his family. A proper spurs legend that one.

We can look forward to a new era now. Come on you spurs.

So what's the overall Ins and Outs for the window?

In; Ade, Verts, Gylfi, Lloris, Dembélé, Dempsey

Out; Saha, Nelson, Alnwick, Button, King, Bassong, Corluka, Kranjcar, Modric, Rafa, Gio,

Loaned Out; Bostock, Kane, Rose,

Loan Returned; Naughton, Caulker.

Stuck with; Jenas, Bentley, Gomes/Cudicini

That everything?

For me, it was the best window in a long time! We signed a new manager and six (SIX!) players. Yes, we lost three stars - King, Modric and VDV. Not much to do about that since they did not want stay with us (that is Modric, Sylvia and Ledley's knee...)!

But is it all about the number of players? I'd rather we bought the right players and backed the manager. For some reason I get the feeling Lloris is the only one he really wanted. We now have a serious lack of creativity in our ranks. For those that say Sigi is just a younger VDV, I don't think he is, he doesn't have the guile and cunningness that VDV had. None of the new players are bad, just not convinced that all of them are what we needed.

4 minutes?

should be a sackable offence

and i wouldn't blame AVB if he walked tonight

-First of all: i believe the 4 minutes is just an invention from that Portuges tabloid.

-Second of all: what would you do as Levy if that fucking Pini guy (who has a 15% stake in Mouthinho) during the closing stages of the deal sudenly renegged on the deal and asked for say 10million punds more? This is why third party ownership should be completely forbidden. The third party owners are ONLY interested in getting maximum value. They dont care where Mouthinho plays so if they are disappointed in a deal they could probably scupper it easily.

Im not slating your post per se, i just think people are jumping to overly negative conclusions waaay to fast regarding Levys role in the failed Motinho deal.

I'm reaching the conclusion that, just like the last 5 transfer windows, we're operating under a policy of making a profit through transfers, and not making net investment.

While that's frustrating, if I take that as read then I'm very happy with our business this window. I don't think the same amount of money could have been significantly better spent and I don't think we've left glaring holes.

I am gutted Rafa left, but I can accept it given it was to Hamburg and was complying with his personal wishes; not simply trying to do a good deal business-wise.

Perhaps Huddlestone, was going to go out on loan.

morning all, whatever you feel it is what it is and at least we can get back to discussing games now rather than stuff we probably couldn't comprehend even if we were actually involved. without a bottomless pit of cash to make instant transfers there are always going to be near misses (missing mr m is my only regret as it would have taken away the hurt of seeing vdv hold up his hamburg shirt) but as lots of people have said, the money we paid for lloris, dembele, ade, sig, verts and demps is just unbelievable business considering how much for example the dippers spent last season (we spent circa 50m on those 5, yet they absolutely shit all over anything they've got that they probably spent 2 or 3 times as much on). We've strengthened overall albeit the individual flair has probably dropped (though i think dembele is potentially world class) and we've made a bit of cash on the side (£10m+?). It hurts more because we all know how close we are and how far we could go with just one or two stellar signings but hey, we're creeping closer and let's see where we go. 3pts today is an absolute must......COYS.

Why are we still paying wages to Gomes/Cudicini? Seems such a waste. Must really have struggled to offload them.

I feel bad for Hudd now. What for him? Perhaps a club in Ligue 1 might take him on loan? Their window is still open (as is Russian league window). Would it be better for him to stay here with it unlikely he'll get played, or go to the Championship on loan, which would be a bit demeaning.

Also the weirdest one for me was Danny Rose on loan. If BAE is going off to the ACN why wouldn't we keep Rose around just in case? Not one to get worked up about but, a bit odd.

Let's move onto January window - Leandro and Moutinho for a combined 45m and get rid of Bentley, Jenas, Gomes and possibly Dawson for a total of 15m

If we did that this window it would have been a Carlsberg window

Bubble you've left Lennon out of your sig mate!

Just another side note, we may have made a slight profit on our transfers this year - but the amount of signing on fees and wages need to be taken into account as well. We literally could have brought another clint dempsey with Ade signing on fee.

If you take a look at the amount of loans of players that premiership teams deal in now, including our own club, its obivious that clubs are on tight budgets. Also wages, its clear to keep bale and bring ade in, we had to raise our cap on wages. So many average players are on decent wages as well.

Liverpool, who seemed to flaunt money around, failed in the clint transfer alone because they wouldn't meet fulham evaulation of the player, despite it being mere pennies in todays environment. Porto played hardball on Moutinhio. It took us all summer to sell modric, it may have taken us all summer to reach and then fail in an agreement for Moutinhio. So it not just being tight, its the current econmic and football climate. A few clubs can play fantasy football and it ruins the whole perception of the reality for the rest of the other teams.

We just invested in a state of the art training ground and academy, and start working on a new stadium, future is bright, and very well planned out.

Mouthinho was a dissapointment, but the generally quality we have brought in as been excellent, probably our best window in terms of bringing players in.

COYS!

Also the worst for players going out. Modric, Rafa, King

It's got to be expected to atleast bring in alot of good talent, and REPLACE who we've lost. We didn't.
