Exactly….what we've seen this window (for some unknown reason) is a lot of reading between the lines, guesses as to 'hidden meanings', second guessing and extreme over analysis of some pretty clear ITK.

I have no idea why that is.

I wasn't suggesting it was a cryptic, or a Q&A, just trying to make sense of the Berahino situation over the last week.

i have a different slant from the itk as presented. for me its always been a case of lowballing three or four clubs for one player in a position we need to strengthen. coach technically ok with all of them. but has ranked them.

for dm we have say everton, dortmund, leverkusen aware of our interest and what wed like to pay. they are either tempted, perhaps because the player makes his interest clear, or not, even if he does. if they then explore the market for a replacement, looking at sell and buy price and wondering whether they can make it work or not. then conclude our offer is crap.

levy then sits tight to see which opposing chairman blinks. if none do, we have a stambouli at the bottom of the list in the last year of his contract. it all comes back to being unwilling to pay the premium. trix said deals are long the line. this means if we were to offer an extra 5m to pluck a number one of the target clubs would accept the bid.

levys simply not pressing go on that. thats where we are.

Obviously that is your opinion. The club have to put a value on players we are buying. Mistakes were made with the Bale money, mistakes we can't make again. As long as our valuation of the player is reasonable, we should not pay £5m more to get him.

To be fair, I believe there are a few things about Spurs one shouldn't be to categorical about.
One of those things is Levy and how he likes to operate. Don't assume he only follows one single approach in all transfers.

i dont. i wrote about where we are at on the two more players we need and why we are stuck. imo.

trippier and wimmer are examples of other models he uses. the under the radar biggy, like modric, seems far harder to do now. mainly because hes reverted to saving mode.

I think summer 2013 has scared Levy massively IMO. That window did so much damage to us a club in more ways than one. I wish Mitchell and Poch were about when all that went down. Hindsight is a wonderful thing

Summer 2014 was worse in my eyes. Now, I guess/hope they are trying to hit the perfect balance between those two summers

i think the balance of opinion is still with you on this. which of course i respect. when more people see dier flapping at dm and what poch does when h is not on the field tomorrow and the day after id expect more fans to drift over to pay the premium camp. i can see three defeats, with some suggesting another capitulation at ot wont matter, building up a shitload of pressure for stoke.

go a goal down and i can see some fans turning on levy not poch.
