Exactly. This guy is yet another notch in the proven track record of Broomfield for identifying Prem-successful players, as this guy hit the ground running immediately at a reeling QPR and actually managed to give them some semblance of hope for a time.

Yep and as I said above, if we had signed him in the January window we were linked, we would have secured CL football. I am very glad to have Broomfield back at the club and it's a shame he wasn't at the club before last summer.

Hasn't our interest in Remy been around for a couple of transfer windows but always been tempered by an injury worry? I think that's why he went to QPR initially. I imagine this means worried over the injury are no longer there.

I've never understood this definition of itk as being purely amateur gossips and excluding professionals such as stobart who clearly has some good sources. Of course done journos are just hacks making it up as they go but then so are some itks. Wouldn't we be better off dividing them by reliability rather than by whether it's their actual job or not?
I'd agree especially since Di Marzio seems to be the closest thing to a Baldini ITK...
And I know we have player threads, but this is where people look for info & works well as an aggregator. All ITK has a mixed hit rate and often the ITK we do get will have come via journalists anyway...

And Broomfield's return could be why we've regained interest...

Could not agree with you more in both regards. Broomfield returning to Spurs is on par with somehow managing to land Christian Eriksen as the best thing to happen to our club in a pretty rough season.

Yeah, apart from being proven in the PL, scoring goals at two clubs both with worse players than us, having lightning pace and being able to play as a WF or a CF, I can't think of any reason to want him in our team. A complete mystery.

Spot on.

It's like several on here slating Ade and saying that they wouldn't want another of his "type" at the club. Frankly i'd like those who live on utopia street to point Poch in the direction of a player with Ade's or Remy's scoring record that we can afford, and who could be bothered to come play in the EL for us next season.....

Yes, he is a bit injury prone and had a heart defect iirc..... Actually having a heart defect I can see why Remy would have to think twice before signing for us
:D.

I think the club has been looking at him ever since he was first recommended to Harry, but yeah I have no doubt that upon Broomfield's return that he's strongly re-suggested him. This quality and versatility of a player for 9 mil? That's a fantastic deal. He should do very well at Spurs if this true and Woolwich explore other options.

It's not just the scoring record but what else they can add to the team. Remy's pace is a massive asset even if his scoring record wasn't great.

Personally, the idea of Remy, Lamela and Eriksen behind Ade is very exciting indeed. I get the impression that those not really in favour are the ones who believe that Poch is magically going to transform Soldado into the player he needs to be to succeed with us playing one up front.

Agree we are at our best when we hit teams with pace, not this tic-tac-toe footy, direct is the new way forward

Most would improve our first team atm why get the one who will be turned on the quickest if all goes tits up?

There may not be pride in looking at him like a piece of meat but that's how he sees us and if we sign him, someone who clearly prefers Arsenal and who's a proven mercenary, we lose all of our identity, an identity created and fought for by legends such as Bill Nicholson, Danny Blanchflower and Ledley King.

What pious rot! Laughable.

I'm a little uncomfortable with Remy. He gets hurt a lot and disappears for weeks at a time. When he's good, he's very good, but he strikes me as a massive primadonna and I wonder if he's worth the trouble. I mean, I guess I wouldn't be against it, but I wouldn't want the club to bend over for him, either. If we've made an offer and it's acceptable then give him a day or two to sign or move on. I don't think we should let Arsenal dictate our signing strategies (or any club, for that matter).

Soldado scored 30 plus goals in a team with worse players than us and he still struggled, we have many versatile players and as I said most our players will score more goals next season why buy this mercenary to deny Kane, one of our own, playing time.

The likes of Sinclair and Torres were "proven" in the PL, look how they turned out.

Bony, Benteke and Rodriguez from the Prem, Yilmaz and Firimino from abroad and besides Kane is likely to score more goals next year and if we had better creative players naturally the likes of Soldado will score more.

If we'd acted earlier we could've grabbed Josep Drmic

La Liga and the PL are totally different leagues. Some qplayers skills cross over, some don't. And I think saying we definitely have better players than Valencia is doing them a bit of a disservice. Their players are better at passing the ball than us for a start.

As for Torres and Sinclair, I can only assume you're talking about Sinclair from Swansea to City. In which case I'm not sure it's relevant as he never stood a chance with the players City had.

Torres was a flop and of course there is no guarantee of success, but he cost £50m not the £8 or 9m touted for Remy.

I also don't see how signing him is going to deny Kane that much. He is not good enough to be a regular starter at this stage if we are to progress as a team and there is no reason why he can't start all our group EL games, plus other cup games and continue to be part of the squad and improve.
