Bony, Benteke and Rodriguez from the Prem, Yilmaz and Firimino from abroad and besides Kane is likely to score more goals next year and if we had better creative players naturally the likes of Soldado will score more.

Bony is a good option, but I'm not sure how Poch would take to him not being particularly pacey. He could work, especially because of his holdup play since Bielsa/Poch tactics call for vertical ball prioritization, but I also wouldn't be surprised if Poch wanted to pass him over. I also wouldn't be surprised to see us go after two strikers this summer, which is certainly feasible considering Remy's price and what we'd make if Soldado and Ade were to be sold.

As for the rest:

- Benteke needs to be dropped from here as our club's interest in him seemingly has, as you don't mess with a player with a recent Achilles' tendon tear. That is as bad, if not worse, than the infamous "unhappy triad." I'd suspect he may not even be back to his best until Fall 2015.

- Rodriguez should also not be pursued for the immediate time being. Saints have said they want to hold on to as many players as possible, so I think we should be exploring a few of their options first before an injured Rodriguez.

- Yilmaz was an interesting option, but you have to wonder why he's been passed over by everyone. Even Lazio futzed around in negotiations for Yilmaz at less than ten mil euros, and couldn't secure the deal. I don't think he's the solution to any of our striker issues.

- Firmino is best used as a winger, and he has just signed a new contract with Hoffenheim anyway.

La Liga and the PL are totally different leagues. Some qplayers skills cross over, some don't. And I think saying we definitely have better players than Valencia is doing them a bit of a disservice. Their players are better at passing the ball than us for a start.

As for Torres and Sinclair, I can only assume you're talking about Sinclair from Swansea to City. In which case I'm not sure it's relevant as he never stood a chance with the players City had.

Torres was a flop and of course there is no guarantee of success, but he cost £50m not the £8 or 9m touted for Remy.

I also don't see how signing him is going to deny Kane that much. He is not good enough to be a regular starter at this stage if we are to progress as a team and there is no reason why he can't start all our group EL games, plus other cup games and continue to be part of the squad and improve.
I DON'T WANT REMY!!!

I'm a little uncomfortable with Remy. He gets hurt a lot and disappears for weeks at a time. When he's good, he's very good, but he strikes me as a massive primadonna and I wonder if he's worth the trouble. I mean, I guess I wouldn't be against it, but I wouldn't want the club to bend over for him, either. If we've made an offer and it's acceptable then give him a day or two to sign or move on. I don't think we should let Arsenal dictate our signing strategies (or any club, for that matter).

I don't think it is as cut and dry as it is presented in the article that he is waiting for Arsenal. Everyone and their mother is either in Brazil or on their way to Brazil at the moment and most (if not all) the national team managers effectively tell all the agents and clubs to fuck off during the tourney. So getting a full negotiation finalized isn't so cut and dry (see Chelsea with Costa and Fabregas, both sound done and settled but still not "done done" in reality) as they would be if there was no tourney.

What it sounds like to me is that we have done the informal approach, Baldini or someone from Spurs speaking with the agent "Would Loic consider Spurs? What are wage expectations?" and got a "yes" to both....now, no doubt Arsenal have done the same and potentially other teams.

Remy's agent(s) and Remy won't really be able to finalize anything until after the French finish their participation in the Tourney and as far as Remy and his agents are concerned there is a chance (it may be a small chance but it is still a chance) that Remy goes out and bangs in goals at the WC and becomes a major commodity, that will effect his wage demands and interest from other teams so for them, it makes sense to stall everything.

So we probably got some encouraging news from Remy and his people but i am sure we aren't the only ones who have had the informal talks. I don't think it is a case of our signing being dictated by Arsenal but more a player with no true allegiance to anyone in England (considering he was quoted as saying something along the lines of it being a "dream" to play for CFC even Arsenal aren't cut and dry winners in a situation like this) considering what his best options are before finalizing his move. We'll have to see how it plays out.

We've had George Graham as our manager and William Gallas captain us. I don't really think Remy is the straw that breaks the camel's back on that one.
And don't forget* Terry Fuckin' Neill.
FFS!

I would love to have Remy. Skillful, Pace, Finishing ability what is there not to like? I think it was the 20 Million price tag that stopped it last time but at 9 mil to me it's a no brainer.

Yeah we have all been trying hard to erase Terry Neil from our memory. I remember Martin Peters telling me that Neil was trying to coach ball skills to the players and when you think of the players we had then and then think of Terry Neil's "ball skills" as a player it must have either been him having a bit of a joke or the shortest training sessions ever

Remy. Meh. I'd like to be positive about him, but he's not a particularly exciting prospect.

So then... nothing on Leandro this window? Strange.

I'm sure we are monitoring the Remy situation but I think Morata is more likely due to his age and potential. Remy is good but maybe a bit lazy and selfish to be a success in a Poch team.

Can't see RM selling Morata. Better than Benzema probably in the next 1-2 years, with the latter being short of world class. Would be less surprused surprised to see him sold on to PSG or Goons et al.

I take it our inquires about Michel Vorm didn't go very far...
Why would they? We have Lloris, Freidel and Archer. Vorm is a number 1. We wont be signing a GK unless he is 35+ and is content with being a #2. Otherwise, Archer and Brad will be the keepers behind Lloris. I think any inquiries for Vorm/Begovic would be just in case of Lloris leaving which is a very, very small possibility at this point.

I'd rather us focus on actual needs like left back and winger before we get into striker, CB's, CM's or keepers. Especially because the former 3 would depend on a sale(or in CM case, 2-3 sales). So can all this Lovren, Schneiderlin, Vorm, that swiss CM and Remy talk end for now? Please?

We already have a Loic Remy that we want to sell who goes by the name of Sheyi Emmanuel Adebayor. The idea is to get rid of streaky primmadonna strikers who pick and choose when they want to play. Not bring them in.

Hell, I think I'd rather bring back Mr. Offsides Flag himself, Jermain Defoe, than sign Remy.

Vertical ball prioritization [sic]. Does that involve Dawson hoofing it straight up in the air?
