Leading Dutch football website VI - usually very well informed on Dutch players - reporting Vorm deal has been struck, subject to a medical. He is in London today for this and 'will sign his contract afterwards'. They mention a 3 year deal.

Can sense a double announcement with BD is due sooner than later.

Griezmann is a cracking player and of course I wouldn't say no. But, for once I'd like to see us spend big money on the areas of the field that need it. I'd like to see 20m+ spend on a centre back rather than a flair player.

I guess the point is we don't need to spend that sort of money on a CB because we can get one for half. flair players, on the other hand, command a premium.

We shouldn't be put off by Lamela IMO.

If he was part of the Dutch World Cup Squad would he not still be on holiday?

My understanding is that it would be better to process a sig/Davies/vorm swap in 3 deals as opposed to 1, as none of the players have a sell-on clause and, believe it or not, it's easier to circumvent tax in football with straight deals than it is swaps. We've only paid tax under levy twice because of how he reinvests the money, if he puts our profit back into the stadium this works out better. Of course, this makes little difference to how a deal would be portrayed in the media.

PS I won't comment on the deal itself, it's all out there and pretty obvious.

This was something i posted in this thread last week, just wanted to apologise as I didn't know a sell-on clause was in Vorms contract, but someone posted in here that there is one. Means what I wrote was irrelevant, but the point still stands for the future in terms of how these kind of deals are done :angelic:. I will also just point out (to defend myself ;)) that it wasn't meant to be deal-related info in the first place it was just using knowledge I had of how deals are done to say how I think this one would be structured! Hence the fact I didn't comment on the deal itself (y).

All fear the Eye.

Btw we''re being linked with a player called lanzini or something in the express.. I.e a young Argentinian

Isn't this the one @Ossie85 cited the other day? Referred to him as similar to Hazard's playing style, which if remotely true sounds like an excellent idea. Ossie did himself seem to rate him quite highly as well.

Griezmann does seem to have a 'flavour of the month' about him because of a good world cup , and when we are short of money, it does seem over the top paying 20m+ on the basis of a good world cup, so am kinda glad JJ knocked the idea on the head

Schneiderlin is far more important to our needs and we cant afford both

I thought the eye rating was a special rating you received from a Mod, that you're being watched and considered for Mod status or something...

I believe many on here have been pushing for Griezmann since long before the world cup, it is Depay who is the flavour of the month and he didn't even have a good world cup.

I was staring at it for awhile trying to workout what it was supposed to mean when it winked at me... or blinked, it was hard to tell.

Anyway, I think the Goat's ITK is good news. I liked the ITK where he said Davies was done and also the ITK where Vorm might be transferred to us.

I thought he scored 3 goals? maybe i am confusing him with Depay there

I still don't think he is right for us, he is a flair player, Townsend with talent, and i don't see how a flair player would make an impact when most teams park the bus against us. We should wait and see how Rodriguez goes with his fitness

His name was touted on the basis of his steller Sociedad form, not for France.

Akin to James Rodriguez who a few of us were banging the drum before he made the move to Monaco and way before he blew up big style in the WC.

Wait any longer and he'll be in the clutches of a mega club with an abundance of riches so it's basically now or never.

A skysports journalist also reporting Vorm having medical today, 3 year contract agreed.
