Leaders?

How about Fazio and Stambouli? Pretty sure both were captains at previous clubs.

They no nothing of the country, culture and league they are coming to. You expect them to come into the club and start guiding others?

Just shows that the little baldy has no desire to win anything other than the net spend/balancesheet league
So teams like
Good window. Take the emotion out of it- good window.
We've strengthened in areas we were poor. We've sold players that were surplus to requirements. We've given the manager a more streamlined, versatile squad to coach. He's said to be happy with what he has and, if his two targets in MS and Jrod weren't get-able he was content. So we should be.
Given we typically play 1 upfront we can get to Jan with the 3 cforwards we have, no issue. We're good.

Pochs main challenge is now a managerial one. That changing room has lost a lot of personality this morning. I can't see any natural leaders stepping up. He's got to find a nucleus of a new group of leaders and give them their head. By all accounts Benji is that type but apart from him I'm struggling with who can grip the team if we've got 2 down in 30
Mins, who gives Bentaleb a slap and an encourage if he's having a bad one, who gets the huddle together and gives them the speech. We've lost that personality a bit and Poch can be the best coach in the world but we need leadership on the pitch as well
i think that's why Kaboul is playing

I had zero expectations yesterday, so in a way I am not disappointed at all.
Had United not gone for mad, Falcao deal, most here would agree that we had a good window.

Problem is the comparison to our rivals.

We need to build a team from a squad of players. With Dawson & Sandro gone, Lennon & Walker are among the oldest. When you compare that with other clubs, such turn over of players is simply mindboggling.

We need stability. We need a season where we just aim to maximise the ability of the talent given to us and see where it takes us.

People moan that players like Benteke and Lukaku go for extortionate amounts, that we don't sign these players when they would of cost a couple of million instead of the 20+ that we get quoted when we try and buy them as established Premier league players I mean Schniederlin was quoted as 27mill.

So people moan we dont sign players before they cost these inflated fees but this year we have signed Dier, Davies, Strambouli and Fazio who could all have the potential to be 20mill players in todays market, I personally think its a been a very good window and we have finally managed to ship out aload of deadwood and in Pochs eyes improved the areas that need addressing. If Pochettino can make the Southampton players look that good and cost that much i feel he can do more with our players who are are better quality than what he had when he arrived at Southampton.

Everyone moaning same old Tottenham not splashing the cash but that didn't exactly work out last year paying over inflated fees for players although I hope most of these will in fact kick on this year and try to pay back some of their fees and just getting Lamela playing is like a new signing after his cameo first season.

I dont think a striker was needed as in Ade, Soldado and Kane we have three strikers that can score goals and i still believe Soldado can be our 20-30 goal a season striker.

Yes I am sad to see some players leave but if we think with our head and not our heart we can all tell that time was right to move these on, some are just too good to be bit players and some just needed to get back to the right level for where they are at.

So overall I happy with the business that has been done.

Countless of foregin players have joined a team in England and almost instantly turned into a leader in the team. It has nothing to do with nationality, it's just about what kind of person the player is.

As have Ade, Lloris, Chiriches, Soldado, Vertonghen, Capoue

For either the National team or previous Clubs.

As well as various players who have captained for stints or at younger levels.

Still lacked leadership and the right characteristics.

Vorm - not yet fit apparently but when he is clearly a perfect second choice to Lloris who will play Europa games I'd imagine.
Davies - a bloody good left back who is only out of the team because the 'much maligned' rose has actually played well this season.
Fazio - who cares if you haven't heard of him? Dawson, Kaboul, chriches aren't up to it- we needed a new centre half. We want for Musacchio, couldn't get him so got Fazio. Where's the problem?
Yedlin - about the quickest player in world football who might turn out to be a game changer next year. If not, what have we lost?
Dier - you're right, a good prospect. Shame
Stromboli - evidently better on the ball which is why he's an upgrade.

I'm not trying to be positive- it doesn't come naturally - but I really don't think it's bad business. Who do people think we realistically should've signed? Falcao?

We are in decent shape.

Depends what you are aiming for

If it's 5th - 7th yes we are in decent shape...in fact this is the case even if we buy nobody this window

If it's top 4th then we are not

Also Fazio was only due to be captain this season and pretty sure Benji wasn't.

I know alot of you had your knives out ready for Levy as soon as we didn't sign X, Y or Z but I think the most important piece of ITK came from Trix last night. He said Poch was happy with the squad, thought that Schneiderlin was overpriced at the £27m Saints were asking, he also had a say in all our signings and wanted to wait for Rodriguez in Jan rather than sign Welbeck.

So surely this is all that matters? That the manager and chairman are on the same page?

Your lack of leadership argument is based on what?

It`s all well and good waiting for J Rod in Jan, but we won`t be the only club in for him thats for sure, risky strategy.

Only a very basic observation of how quickly heads went down, the amount of maulings we got and the lack of players trying to inspire/drive us on in the tough situations.

Obviously we may have leaders setting examples of the training field etc but I certainly didn't see too much inspiration being given, or responsibility being taken last year.

I would just like to take a moment and thank JJ for some splendid ITK to keep us all entertained throughout the transfer window. Top work good man. (y)

I would also like to thank myself for not believing a single word that Ali Z says ever since I placed a £50 bet on Bale staying last year. Doh.

I think the reality has set in that in terms of first team quality we are now miles away from fourth place in the league and unless some of our players go from average to great overnight (a la Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling) we will be a long, long way from where we want to be come May and will remain so for the foreseeable future as FFP bites and the reality of our uncompetitive revenue locks in a lower wage bill and therefore lower quality personnel. I don't think we have strengthened the squad this window really, we sold a few players and bought a few that are either average or as yet unproven. The squad has a better balance in terms of personnel, but there isn't a single name on our team sheet that any opposition will truly be fearful of. United, although I'm not sure about the balance of their squad, have at least attempted to add quality in order to get back to where they feel they belong. We as a club have clearly made a decision not to be competitive and have accepted our position as also-rans. This is why we sold Bale and Modric and did not replace them with players of similar quality. I'm not surprised other fans are disappointed...I am.

So are you referring to this season or last season display.

this season we have lost one game to a good Liverpool side which have their manager philosophy printed on them for 3 seasons now. OR is it last season as the memories of last season has been wiped out of my memory.

I was driven demented last night trying to explain this to people, but they were so blinkered because we didn't sign Ronaldo, Falcao etc. All they see is Levy counting his profits.

If the manager is happy why change anything. We obviously tried for players that we couldn't get and got other targets instead. Poch has players he can work with and improve.
