Really, this is all very shrewd IMO.

Kranjcar > Pienaar anyway IMO. Kranjcar more of a goal threat.
Saha with a little Harry mentoring should score some goals. He's not terrible. Look at the team he was in....
Pav was a bit lazy. We got £10m for him or whatever.
Nelson... Well, yeah.

In fairness though, it's seeming that the trend nowadays is having experience in the team. It's as much mental as it is physical.
A CB doesn't have to be stupid fast. Just aware of their positioning and reads the game well.
Look at Gighs and Scholes etc. Beckham for another.

If players keep themselves fit. There's nothing stopping them playing well into their mid thirties.
Saha will also probably have a point to prove...

Wenger likes kids. He's also not keen on older players. And what their season is amounting to is that if Van Rapist gets injured, they are well and truly fucked.

No matter how much the club will try and dress this up that we went for this and that player, at a time when we could have been on the verge of a proper challenge the chairman and the club have let us down.

the only signings we make are two players who are crocks both consistantly injured and well past their sell by date.

Another chance to improve gone begging and a transfer window that we have came out weaker than we went into it.

Levy your transfer policy and miserly ways will probably cost us our place not only as challengers but to be in the champions league next season.

Well done Daniel i hope you are happy counting our hard earned money while we sit and contemplate what might have been if we had a chairman with ambition.

How I see it tbh

Strange window in many ways.

Looking at the fixtures for the rest of this season, we have only one Premiership midweek game, in other words we have one game a week. The FA cup may give us a couple of midweek games but that is it.

The limited number of games for the rest of the season means we do not need a full 25 man squad - most would rarely play.

Looking at the squad post TW :

Goalkeepers - No change

Centre Backs - Kaboul, Dawson with King (who can handle playing once a week and Gallas (who should be fit in a week or two) plus Nelsen (and Huddlestone could play here too)

Full Back - One place we might vulnerable. Smith apparantly has a recall clause at RB, Kaboul can play RB (provided we have other fit CB's) as can Sandro and Livermore. Rose is available to cover LB. So we have options

Midfield - We have about 10 midfielders still - more than enough. It would be nice to have a back up winger - hope that Townsend has a recall clause. Fredericks looked a prospect in Europa League, but probably too raw.

Strikers - Ade, Defoe and Saha.

IMO we are ok for this season unless we have a severe injury crisis.

For next season we have all of our loanees back - and hopefully buy one or two big names in the summer TW.

I'm going to bed. This is all too much.

If we've learnt anything since TwoPointsFromEightGames-Gate, it's that Harry knows what he's fucking doing. He writes like a two year old. He probably doesn't manage his personal finances very well. But by fuck can he organise a group of men to kick a ball about on a field in the best way I have ever seen.

Have a little bit of faith. You all owe him that.

The hysterical IWantIWantIWant rants are fucking ridiculous, and come across as spoilt and unrealistic, both in a footballing context and a financial one. We're in a recession, we're being sensible.

Things to remember about deadline day: 1) we won to go within 5 points of the league leaders, 2) we got rid of a disruptive striker that was here for the cash, 3) we announced a massive regeneration project linked to the stadium regeneration and 4)we trimmed the squad further and only actually disposed of one player.

Things are not so bad as you all make out. They're not "Eden Hazard" good. But they're not "Pavlyuchenko" bad.

Saha. Believe.

Out.

If Saha actually got a chance in the first team and stayed fit, I could see him equalling Ade's goal tally TBH.
Adebayors hold up play is ok. But every time I watch him, which is every game, he's either mostly offside, missing the target or letting the ball bounce off him.
Good feet for a few goals have saved him from me having a negative opinion on him thus far.
I think Saha could actually prove to be a more clinical finisher.

It's all about the summer.

To be honest it was obvious not much good stuff was going to happen today when the stadium announcement was made - that's the really big news. That's the most significant development for the future of our club and I am incredibly excited now to see us kick on with the stadium.

In the summer, providing we get CL football, and providing we can shift some of the remaining dead wood, we are looking at possibly two big signings I think, in the Remy/Leandro mould. We still won't go mental, as we still won't have the stadium and the financial backup we need to push things financially.

Glowing report from the Everton website...

Absolute disgrace. While not over the moon by his signing, I would have thought the guy deserved a bit of fucking respect from his club. What a horrible fair-well note. I bet we give Pav a better one than that, at least wishing him all the best.

Good post, though I think the real problem is the complete lack of replacements for Pienaar and Corluka (who are certainly not bad players at all), and the (possible) replacement of Bassong with Nelsen, who is defintely worse than Bassong.

Some might be moaning about the lack of glamour signings, but for me it's the insanity of deliberately choosing to weaken the squad. If no upgrades were available...don't fucking let them go.

It was pretty pathetic wasn't it.
