Yes fartsniffers. I know you. Guffing in bed and lifting the quilt for a crafty sniff. And don't even bother fucking denying it. You disgust me.

Wow... Who does that? Really? How can.. wait, is that a pin-hole camera in my bedroom wall? You have crossed the fucking line, A&C!

The one caveat to AVB going continental with his signings and the British spine being slowly eroded, is that, as with the last spate of imports, even with vast vats of experience such as Soldado, they need time to get up to speed and settle in.
This January window requires any incomings to hit the ground running and provide impetus and momentum, rather than periodic flashes of performance then anonymity.

I haven't got a problem with signing foreign players over British players, but that is a very fair point. Holtby is only now starting to pick up after being at the club for almost a year, and players like Lamela and Eriksen will need a good season to really get into the swing of things. I think some players are naturally more predisposed to settling into this league. Depends on their style of play or the league they've just come from.

It can be just as hard to get PL players adjusting to a new team, we never got much joy out of say Bent or Bentley, far better imo to get a player with the strengths you need and let them develop, some players will hit the ground running some won't, but the reason we got Soldado in for example was because two proven PL strikers were struggling for goals last season

Yeah, there's always going to be that period of time while talents settle. Look at Fellaini. He literally just followed Moyes and the only thing that changed was the shirt he wears, expectations and his teammates yet he looks like he simply has none of the attributes that attracted United in the first place.

Players take time to settle. It's just a part of transfers. It's why I don't understand why people jump the bones of players like Chadli, Paulinho, Soldado, etc. when they don't perform immediately especially when you consider the huge changes they've made in their lives as well as the talent they face.

You've got to trust your scouting. The players you bring in, the way they can adjust (either immediately or in time) and your belief in their ability. Nothing else matters in my opinion. Sure, they will always get flac if they don't perform immediately, but that's just part of the media and the fans that want players to come in and set the world alight.

Our worst signings in history have been English players from other EPL clubs - i.e. Bentley and Bent. Whereas a lot of imports, such as Chiriches and Verts have walked in played like they've been at the club a decade.

I'd love to see us signing English players, but there's no value in that market whatsoever. IMO the only British players we see at the club in future will be those we bring through outselves, like has happened recently with Townsend, Rose, Livermore, Caulker and Carroll.

Unfair to label Darren Bent as one of our worst ever signings.

We have signed many worse players over the years. Probably hundreds, in fact.

However, if your point was, as I suspect, more to do with how much he cost us and how little we got back for him, then I still disagree. I think, after all the add ons that Sunderland had to pay us, we more or less got our money back for him - which is more than can be said for some other signings.

The point is that we are not a club that should be looking to break even on players who we sign and then sells we need to sign players who will play well for the team and who will bring us the wins that we need. I couldn't care less if we lost money over the entire period of a player's contract if the player meant that we won games and achieved the success that we need. I would far rather sign a player who is fantastic, scores bags of goals and then retires at the end of a long and successful career than get a young player in and recoup the cost a few seasons later when they have failed to move us forward!

atlanta yid posted this: he is done and dusted

could be just opinion i guess

Not sure what I feel, if that is the case. I really want him to succeed, but I really don't see how he can turn things around for us either...

Val also said "adeus" in the match thread but that simply could have been his personal thoughts as many others were all saying bye bye AVB.
